Highly recommended!
This graphic novel tells the story of Wally West, who first became Kid Flash, and the lessons he learned that would prepare him to one day take over the Flash mantle. Overall, I found this to be a very good graphic novel, and a worthy addition to my Flash library. It covers everything from Wally's transformation on, but not up to the death of Barry Allen.
The stories were uniformly great, and the illustration work was mostly great. The fly in the ointment is the Kid Flash: Day Two story, in which the people are drawn in a disturbingly caricature-like manner that really helps break down the believability.
But, that said, it is a very good Flash graphic-novel, one that I highly recommend!
Your New Favourite Superhero
I bought this book because, basically, it was cheap (only a couple of pounds)but upon reading it i soon discovered it was worth its original price 10 fold!
This book is a fantastic first step into the world of The Flash and also a treat for any seasoned fan of The Flash. The artwork, though mainly simplistic is clear and does more than justice to Waid's superbly crafted story.
This book provides a welcome break from the angst-ridden, "hard-hitting", uber-realistic storys of most other comics. The Flash instead focuses on the magnitude of his powerand how amazing being a superhero is rather than how awful it is.
This book is the perfect mix of action, drama, family ties and humour. Buy now and you will never regret it.
A must buy book.
For those not familiar with the Flash he is quite simply the fastest man alive. This book follows the life story of Wally West and his incarnation as the current Flash as a boy, teen & finally a man.. Originally published back in the early Nineties when DC was producing some major story lines (Death of Superman, Knightfall etc) this was one of the weaker stories produced at the time.Thats not to say it isnt any good it just had a lot of competition at time. The story itself is engrossing though a bit little bit cheesy at times. Writers Mark Waid & Tom Peyer on 99% form with this one (lose one point for too much family sentimentality thrown into the mix). An ideal purchase for any JLA fan or newbie alike if you want to give the Flash ago..If your a Flash fan, chances are you already have this one.If not, why not?
