Splendid effort
Benedictus and Burgess have done an excellent job of bringing us further adventures of Pooh, Piglet et al, capturing both the style and the spirit of the original Milne/Shepard books.
Nicely produced, though I agree there are a few errors in the text which should have been avoided. Nevertheless, well worth the published price, and even better at Amazon's price, it will earn its place on the bookshelf next to 'The House at Pooh Corner'.
Thoroughly Good Read
My daughters and I were pleasantly surprised at how well David Benedictus has added to A.A.Milne,s original books. We read it when we were all ill with flu,and it cheered us up enormously! The humour is in keeping with the original books, and is a thoroughly good read for young or older children(I am 62)!My daughter who is now 22 disagrees with the reviewer who says that the humour in Pooh books can only be fully appreciated by adults. She remembers reading them herself as a young child, and realised that the humour could only be truly understood by children. She was captivated then by A.A.Milne's characters, and is equally captivated by David Benedictus's"The Return To Hundred Acre Wood".
Read it and see!You will be pleasantly surprised!
Thank you David Benedictus!
Fantastic Return For Winnie!
Fully loved the read, even though I am now an adult, I had to read about Pooh bear after such a long time after reading the original stories as a child. I was not dissapointed. Granted it is more modern, then again, this is 2009, so I would expect a bit of modernisation to the concept. 100% recommended. Buy it now!
