Customer Reviews

Very Disappointing1
Having read all the very positive reviews on this site (and there are a lot of them), I eagerly bought a copy of the book. It has however proved to be a great disappointment.
It reminds me very much of the scribblings of a very precocious 12 year old who has been given a brand new thesaurus for Christmas. A previous reviewer described it as having the feeling of a first draft, and indeed, that is a very apt, if generous, description of the work.
Leaving aside the spelling and grammatical errors, which are down to poor editing by the publishers, the plot is undeveloped, full of holes and at times a bit unbelievable. The characters are two dimensional and have counterparts in other better written stories. I couldn't help but notice that the author is now in the educational field which might explain the bizarre word choices and phrases used. (It seemed at times to be an exercise in how many different ways to say said.)
The only good thing that could be said about this book is that it supports a very worthy cause, which might go some way to explain why there are so many five starred reviews, when the book is obviously a poor read and poorly executed.

Just an opinion!3
After reading all reviews on this book, I decided to go for it and see if it did indeed compare to Harry Potter. I'm afraid to say in my opinion it didnt come close ... not nearly!! Thats not to say I didnt enjoy the story, I did and will read the next installment when it makes its appearance. I do have to say that one thing did get to me throughout the book and hindered my enjoyment of it and that was the considerable number of typos throughout. Truly awful, I do hope the next book sorts this out, I felt the need to dig out the highlighter pen and send a proof read copy to the publisher!! On a more positive note, the story was good, fast paced (no boring dull moments to allow the brain fog to take over) and original I liked it!

Elementally Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!5
To be honest, i'm not a massive book fan usually. If i'm not hooked within the first couple of pages of a book, i lose interest and don't bother. But with this book, i was addicted right from the very first chapter and could hardly put it down until it finished.

Nearly every chapter finished on a cliffhanger which is always a good idea (but doesn't help when you need to go to bed but you just think "one more chapter!").

The whole world created by Dr. Hope is described so well and really encourages your imagination to go wild when the story takes you to dark and wonderful places secretly incorporated within our own world!!!

It does have some funny, exciting and sad moments that light up the pages throughout and i highly recommend this to people of all ages!!! Roll on the second Volume of The Elements of Lore!!!!!
