Don't waste your money
I had high hopes for this book. The problems I found were;
There were limited hotels listed in the book (No Le Meridien St Julian's, a well known brand surely?)
There were no detailed island wide maps. A big problem if you had hired a car. What maps there were were confusing.
The biggest failure was in the shopping area. If you look up "shopping in St Julians" (a major resort)the index refers you to page 78. Page 78 has but one shop in St Julian's and that is a bakery!! Similarly for the capital Valletta. The guide lists 2 book shops, a gold shop and a shop selling religious items. No mention of any malls or designer shops of which there are many.
The details on the bus routes woefully inadequate.
To summarise, I thought this was a waste of money.
...and...
A standard 'Rough Guide' layout with poor maps and descriptions of areas what cover the authors pet subjects in detail ommitting others which might be useful.
Sections at the front of the book in the 'ideas' section are, as ever, useful if you are planning a short break. However, as the above reviewer indicates, the selection of hotels presented is samll and descriptions are sketchy. Better to review these via an online hotel or 'trip advising' site.
Overall: Useful, but leaves me wishing I'd bought the lonley planet guide instead.
