Synopsis

For home prescribing, the only book you will need
I enrolled on an evening course for homoeopathy. When the teacher offered to obtain Castro's book for class members, I declined as I already had a small library on the subject. I soon reversed this decision and it's the only book I consult now! It is the only book I have found that explains basics like the vital force, the minimum dose, constitution and susceptibility etc. There is a wonderful guide to taking a case as well as a dosage chart, potencies to use and sample cases that are actually useful! The bulk of the book is taken up with the Materia Medica which is easy to read and informative. After struggling on my own with fat erudite works, this shines a light in all the right places!
Marvellous
Absolutly Marvellous. Shows you how to take a case in a similar way to the professionals, out lines what you shouldn't be treating and presents the whole lot in a well organised way. Possibly a little to complicated for a first Homeopathic book but a delight for any one with a small amount of familiarity.
Disappointing
I was disappointed with this book, I especially wanted a reference book so that I could also look up the medicines being recommended to me and the rest of the family by our homeopathic doctor. I found that Castro uses very few remedies and a lot of the very common cures that we have been using I could not find in this book.
Her list of symptoms are restricted mostly to very common sicknesses and seems to be concentrated on the various types of common cold.
Altogether too superficial for my needs.
