Outstanding Picture Quality - But Poor Sound.
I have owned this television for a few days now and just thought I would share some information about this product with everyone.
First off, the graphics are absolutely outstanding for the price; the picture quality (when using a component or HDMI connection) was much higher than expected. The graphics are boosted by the LG XD graphics engine built into the television.
I have been using an XBOX360 console with this TV (using the component cable), and the quality far surpasses that of when you connect the console to a pc monitor.
On the more technical side of things, the TV has the following available connections on the rear panel...
2 X Scart Sockets
1 X HDMI connection
1 X TV Antenna Connection
Component Video Connection
1 X RGB Connection (For use with a PC).
When using the component video connection, the TV can display up to 1080i resolution, but when using the HDMI port the TV can display at 1080p (Full HD) resolution.
Unfortunately this TV is let down by the fact that the speakers built into the television are of poor quality, the sound is very `light' and lacks any depth to it. There is also no headphone jack or `variable audio out' ports to connect an external set of speakers. This is a disappointment as many other of the LCD televisions in the LG range include this feature.
Overall you are getting an amazing picture quality for your money, but the poor sound prevents this from being a 5 star product. If sound is your thing, it's probably best to avoid this, unless like me you can find alternative methods of connecting the TV to a Hi-fi or other audio appliance.
Hope this helps!
Very good TV but poor sound
For gaming this TV is great, the picture is crisp and clear.
But the sound quality is beyond poor. The base is drowned out all the time and what makes it worse is there is no headphone jack to connect speakers to.
Sound quality renders this useless
The sound quality of this was so poor we took it back to the retailer for a refund. It was really no better than you would get from an old school portable radio! Otherwise ok, but the sound really was a deal-breaker - I'm surprised it got to market.
