A Poor Effort, Dunce Cap for Richard Benson
This is an awful lazy book & a bit of an insult after having bought it after seeing the best 20 comments on the Sun site as it advertised it. Those 20 comments were the only good ones!
The 'handwritten' style is cheeky & 2 comments a page in a small book doesn't help endear you to it, odd how it all fits the book width format & the same hand clearly wrote a lot of these, look at the letter 'f's in particular. Some handwriting looks too 'old' for a kid to write also.
This book merely highlights how bad kids are at spelling & predictive text & text speak do nothing to help real world spelling.
There is humour here but you can see some of it is embellished to make it 'funnier'.
I feel embarrassed having bought the thing & wasted 30 mins reading it!
A good giggle!
We purchased this book after crying with laughter over an article recently in the Daily Mail which had extracts from another Richard Benton book. This book is also funny and made us giggle, perhaps appreciated by me more as I am teacher. I great book for sharing and certainly cheers you up!
blackboard blunders
Excellent reading. I am a teaching assistant and my colleagues and I were creased up laughing one dinner time while reading this book.I haven't laughed so much in ages. Even when I got home and read it again with my 15 yr old son we were almost crying. It's a must!
