Where else can you find anything like this?
If, like me, you are knocked out by a few seconds playing of any of the old blues/boogie/swing masters of the past but, like me, you can't find anything remotely approaching it in your local library or music shop then buy this.

The very first track will instantly get you. It is, in Mac's words, "very simple" but the Texas Boogie is the real thing and with extreme application, you can play it too - "very simple" my arse.

What he means by "very simple" is of course true *once you can do it* but well nigh impossible if you have never played e.g. 2 against 3 but if you are a blues or boogie nut then you will already have mastered this and this first boogie *will* be "simple" for you.

The CD Rom that comes with it contains much more than the book does so you will have to get the extra-special bits by ear but don't be disappointed i.e. the basic music is printed and just getting that right is the hard part.

The CD shows how incredibly important the subtle rhythm necessary to turn even "mechanical" boogie into gut-wrenching stuff. Mac (Dr. John) does this to perfection. Once you get the music by heart, then you get the rhythm and bingo, you have it all.
