Indispensable....
There is a lot of music in this book (definite value for money) and a lot of care has gone into selecting and organising the material. The editor, Frederick Noad was the author of the repected method 'Solo Guitar Playing' and editor of several attractive anthologies. This collection will be useful to any classical guitar student approaching intermediate level ('advancing beginner'?) and then for a long while after that for the further honing of fundamental technique.
The book consists of studies from the three main composers and performers of the early 19th century - Sor, Giuliani and Carcassi. Each piece has a commentary pointing out the pedagogical features of the study. Fingerings are largely Noad's own (not all the composers added fingering indications) and I believe I have found some misprints, but these in no way detract from the book (as with any instruction, thinking for yourself is often a good habit :-)).
If you are a serious beginner/intermediate and want musical and pedagologically valuable material (and lots of it), do get this book!
