OCR A Physics textbook by Heinemann4
I have found Heinemann textbooks for the new physics OCR A course a valuable resource; the exam cafe CD in the back is particularly useful for revision and for those learning outside a classroom environment who need a little help directing and reviewing their studies; being in this situation myself I found the book lacked substance as a single resource and a little background reading was required although I'm guessing this wouldn't be so much of an issue inside the classroom. Recommended for those taking the course, but another resource might be more suitable for those on other courses or studying physics for non-academic purposes.

Other books in the series include:
OCR AS Physics Student Book and Exam Cafe CD-ROM , OCR AS Revise Physics - New Edition , OCR Revise A2 Physics A (OCR A2 Revision Guides)

The revision guides work well with the textbook but don't add anything and seem to be pretty much the same just broken down a little and with less pictures. Probably unnecessary for those with good notes or with other course specific revision guides, but a good revision aid if notes have been lost/are confusing or you just want a little help revising.
The A2 course follows the AS course and I would recommend buying the AS textbook as well if you do not already own one as knowledge acquired at AS is still needed on the AS course and being able to refer to the previous textbook makes the transition from AS to A2 much smoother.

From a teachers point of view4
Overall my students prefer the layout of this book to the 'Official' book from Cambridge University Press by Chadha. A bit 'lighter' more approachable and with some really helpful stuff in the 'ExamCafe' on the disc.
