Synopsis
Perhaps the strangest variety show ever to air on television, the wildly popular MUPPET SHOW helped to spawn an entire series starring Jim Henson's crew of puppet comedians. Combining musical numbers with comedy, THE MUPPET SHOW centred on the efforts of Kermit the Frog and his team of performers to put on a weekly show, featuring both the onstage acts as well as the backstage problems. Each week a new guest star, among the most distinguished entertainers of the time, would appear to participate in some of the skits and assist Kermit in making order out of the backstage chaos. Although the humour of THE MUPPET SHOW was often more adult and occasionally risque than the later Muppet endeavours, it was still appropriate for every member of the family. SEASON ONE contains all 24 episodes of the program's first year (the 1976-77 television season).

Great presentation of a classic show5
Don't be fooled by some of the other comments suggesting that the order of the shows is incorrect and that scenes are missing.

For starters if Rien had bothered to switch on the very informative muppets trivia on the DVD he would have had the explanation of why Scooter is introduced in episode 6 after appearing in earlier shows. A quick check of imdb.com also confirms the episode order is correct on the DVDs.

Enabling the trivia also explains perhaps why not every scene is shown. Originally, when The Muppet Show was broadcast in the UK different scenes were substituted to give the show a more local appeal. What is presented, on the UK DVD, at least is the UK version of the shows so clearly there will be some scenes missing is you lok at it from an American point of view.

Overall the presentation is good and the additional Muppet trivia is very very interesting. A must for any Muppet fan or person wanting to re-live for childhood memories.

Brilliant!5
Its fantastic to see The Muppets back! Timeless comedy, even if you haven't heard of half the guest stars!!
A good feature on the DVD's are the "Muppet Morsels", information about the episode you're watching with all the dates tha the show was made and when it was first aired. It explains how the characters developed throughout the series, like for example, Scooter is in the first few episodes, then disappears, then reappears being introduced as the new kid. This was because the Americans didn't see the first 3 shows and so Scooter had to be re-introduced into the Muppet world.

Hopefully uncut5
I bought the US version and it is great. I can't wait to get the next seasons. In the US version some songs have been cut out due to missing copy rights like Vincent Price's "You've got a friend" and Jim Nabors' "Gone with the wind". That is really sad.

I wonder of the same cuts are out as well on this release; on dvdanswers.com, they state that the region 2 is complete, without cuts. In that case I would buy it once more.
So, people who bought this one: please inform the others on the cuts!!

Anyway, it is worth it anyway, image and sound quality are really great for an old show like this and the lot of extra's are great.
