Customer Reviews

Excellent read5
I was highly recommended this book by a friend, and it absolutely fulfilled my expecations. I was new to NLP, but it was a subject that I had been fascinated and intrigued by. I read this book hoping to get an introduction to the subject. I got this, and much, much more. Whilst the book covers lots of content, it makes it very simple and manageable. The style is clear and well structured. Theory is expertly combined with practice, and the principles are explained in such a way that you feel comfortable putting them into practice pretty much immediately. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone looking to understand NLP. It is an enjoyavle and engaging read. Enjoy!!

An easy to carry reference book and a good read to boot.5
I've often tended to be a bit sneery about the "Teach Yourself" series - without good reason. Some of this is down to price snobbery, it's cheap so it can't be good. This is not a "Dummies guide" either. They're too expensive and too hard to read.

This book is a great springboard for further learning. Not only does it give you the basics, it also gives you plenty of exercises to follow.

Buy this book if you are new to NLP, and as it's small you might find yourself carrying around with you as a handy refernce, I do.

Great ideas, poorly presented3
If you want a text book that lays out the details of NLP then buy this, but really does Steve Bavister have to deliberately write in such a dry way? The excessive use of jargon- a signature theme of NLP seems to be make it sound complicated then explain how easy it is...why not just make it simple to begin with? Each section is followed by a paucity of examples or case studies and that is inexcusable.

I do think some of the reviews are mistaking the information held in the book (and NLP processes are not unique to this book) with the quality of the book itself which isn't of a high standard. Saying that if you ever wanted to find out what NLP is and how it can help your mind set and communication (and it can) this is a useful text book to get, just read a few pages at a time and then discuss with a friend because as an actual "read" it is beyond dull.
