Another slice of nostalgia. Was surprised when I saw it recently though how well it had aged, with surprisingly mature themes.

For me this is the other great series about the Second World War. As in Secret Army it shows the lives of ordinary people caught up in situations beyond their control.

Hilarious. Laugh as Walmington is woken up!

Oddly this was actually the first Blackadder series I saw. The final episode should be broadcast regularly on Remembrance Day. No other comedy has made me cry as much as it made me laugh.

A current favourite must-see is CSI Vegas, so I had to include this. Interesting mix of cop-show and medical drama, with great plots and cast. It's unmissable.

Lovely adaptation of the first of the Anne books. The sequel is excellent too with a great performance from Wendy Hiller, but avoid The continuing story - it's dreadful!

Very funny political comedy. The 3 central actors made a great team.

I love this series. One of Thompson & Branagh's early collaborations, the chemistry between them shines through. You feel completely caught up with the chaos and displacement of the characters.

Beautiful wartime romance.

Great costume drama from the 1970s - nobody broods quite like Ross Poldark!

I loved this the first time round. On seeing it again, some sections don't hold up as well as I remembered but generally it's an exciting, and fairly accurate drama.

Ian Carmichael was a great Lord Peter Wimsey. All of these dramas were good, but this is an especial favourite.
