It's here at last!
You have NO IDEA how many years I have been waiting for this. I can not belive that finally the COMPLETE As Seen On TV is now on DVD. This WAS the best sketch show of the 80s. It is Victoria Wood at her best. EVERYTHING is here. It's so lovely to have it. It is wonderful. No more do I have to cope with the scratchy video compilation best ofs. Because finally we have all of it, All 12 episodes and the TV special.
Utter marvellous.
Thank you!
This Greatest Comedy Show Of All Time!
Wow... the 2 complete series and the Christmas special.
This is the best comedy show of all time... no contest. 'Shoe Shop', Two Soups', 'Sauna', 'Bingo' etc, they are all here. As funny now as it was in the 80's.
"Get your foot down and get me to that bubbly"
Superb.
Honestly, my favourite TV show ever.
When I was younger, I wasn't allowed to stay up to watch the show, but my Mum taped it for me to watch the following evening. I still recall lying on my bedroom floor and listening to it through the floorboards.
Victoria Wood is faultless when it comes to building characters and producing witty dialogue and 'As Seen on TV' is the perfect evidence to prove it.
For years I've been nagging poor Vic and BBC Enterprises to release this series in a complete format as 'Best of' videos are just inaccurately titled. How can a 100 minute tape be 'best of' when it's all so fantastic?
All thirteen episodes are featured on this two-disc set and each one is an absolute gem. This DVD has been that elusive Holy Grail for me for so many years and now I have this sense of completion.
If I had to choose highlights, they would be;
The song 'Crush' from series 2 (episode 4),
'Two Soups'
'Flatmates'
'In the Office'
'Whither the Arts'
'I'm Counting Moonbeams'
and the hysterical 'Happy With Your Wash?'
But, oh, there are so many more.
Thank you Victoria, 2 Entertain and the BBC! You have made me a very happy man!
