Product Description

Aimed at teachers of years 4 to 11 in the UK and overseas, Learning to Learn's practical strategies for registering, retaining, recalling and revising, are suitable for use with students in lessons. Working on the premise that successful learning depends partly on knowing why you want to learn, the first part of the book looks at motivation. How to learn is the focus of the remainder. From slicing, mind mapping and learning styles, through mnemonics, mind pegs and the seven keys of memory, to reviewing, snowballing and recording, the art of learning is explored and - using curriculum based examples - demonstrated.

Customer Reviews

Thinking skills in a nutshell5
After buying this book I realised that I had actually been on a training day by the author. The writing style is very similar to his pesentaion style; chatty, informative and very thought provoking. The book is an easy quick read but you end up thinking about how you can use the ideas in everyday situations long after finishing the book. I work in a primary school and as part of the management team have used the ideas (mind mapping in a nutshell, different learning styles and techniques to aid memory) in my classrooms and in training days with staff.

The ideas in the book relate to thinking skills, that are currently being introduced and refined in schools. Very useful, inspirational and practical.
