A good introductory book to the Baha'i Faith
I wanted to find a short comprehensive introductory book which would explain what the Baha'i Faith is all about. I found this book to be one of the best. It gives sufficient information about the main teachings of the Baha'i Faith without going into too much detail. It covers all aspects of this, the youngest of the major world religions.
It tells how the Baha'i Faith follows on from the Semitic religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and also from Hinduism, Zoroastrianism and Buddhism. The book states that in 150 years the Baha'i Faith has transformed itself from a little-known Middle-Eastern religious movement into a fast-growing global religion now established in every country of the world. It relates how the scope of the Baha'i Faith is wider than how people generally view religion, as its teachings encompass such subjects as social ethics, race issues, feminist issues, economics and global government. There appears to be nothing about which the Baha'i Faith does not have something to say. Its teachings concern the present day and humanity's struggle for world peace. Could there be a better goal for a world besieged with troubles?
I was gratified to find that the Baha'i Faith not only provides solutions but exudes optimism. I have to say that I had a more positive feeling about religion in general after reading this introductory book.
A good introduction
A good introduction to the Baha'i Faith for those who have heard the name of this religion and want to know more. It's not too long, not too short, not too detailed, not too simple - in other words just right for the interested in enquirer. If you want to read further there are suggestions to follow. The author is an experienced writer of books on religious subjects and does a good job here.
