A "must read" book for the potential brewery owner5
Done some home brewing? Happy with the results? Dreaming of opening your own microbrewery? Know nothing about the licensed trade?

If the answer to one or two of these questions is "yes" then this is the book for you. It provides an excellent checklist of issues which should be considered by "wanabe" brewers. You will be inspired, concerned, motivated and unsettled as you read through the pages. The author has extensive knowledge of the subject and guides you in some detail through all the decision points you might face. In particular the sections on excise duties and licensing are excellent and I suspect this is where many readers will have the largest gaps in their knowledge.

If you are interested in all things conected with brewing beer, buy it. It's a fascinating read and could help you make the right decision regarding your own microbrewing dream. Even if you have no interest in opening a brewery it's a fascinating insight into the business. The case studies contributed by real microbrewery owners provide a great selection of examples, some successful, others which have been more of a struggle for those involved.

This is not just a "how to do it" guide. It also points out all the pitfalls and provides a reality check for those with a Utopian view of opening a Microbrewery.

Brilliant!5
If you are thinking about starting up your own microbrewery whether this is on a small scale in the shed or on a large scale, this book is a must read, as well as a very interesting read.

I bought this for my partner as this is what he'd really like to do. It gives lots of practical advice on what you need to be thinking of from learning the process and the courses you can attend, where to get your equipment and approx costs, taxation, and selling on your produce. It also tells you of real life case studies... people who have actually made the plunge and their experiences.

I was someone who didn't really have much of an interest in microbrewing, after reading this book however, that all changed... can't wait to elbow my way in my other halves venture brew my own beer now!

You should really read this three times before you even think about starting a brewery5
I've been in the brewery business more than 30 years - mostly working for or consulting for big multi-National brewers - but I've helped out my fair share of microbrewers. I've read lots and lots of books on brewing. In many cases it's hard to get enthusiastic about them. But this one is different. It's straight to the point, relevant, and tells you exactly what you need to know. No waffle, no padding, just common sense.
