Amazon.co.uk Review
Chances are there's barely a parent of a toddler in the country who hasn't encountered In The Night Garden in some form over the past few months. The latest BBC-hit from the CBeebies channel, and with a passing resemblance to Teletubbies, this debut DVD for the show brings together five episodes. And many parents already, we suspect, will have their credit cards ready.

In true childrens' television tradition, In The Night Garden is often as alien to adults as it is compelling to its real target audience. But heck, do children love it. Accompanied by the gentle narration of Sir Derek Jacobi, it's billed a nursery rhyme picture book of sorts. This manifests itself in the shape of a wild mix of children and characters, who get up to a mixture of diverse and diverting activities.

And this is one of the many areas where In The Night Garden strikes gold. Not only does it have a distinctive and warm collection of characters, but it does have an educational undercurrent to it all. In short, it engages its target audience particularly well, and teaches them a little in the process.

The DVD is rounded off with special bonus footage and a parents' guide, but it's the five episodes that are set to be spun time and time again. And rightly so. Expect this to be the first DVD release of many, too, for a show with many, many years ahead of it. --Jon Foster

Isn't It a Pip?5
This is one of the most beautiful and original childrens' television series I have seen for a long time. With delightful characters, lovely songs, magical sets (from the very beginning when the stars burst into flower onwards), imaginative words and word-play, they have conjured up an enchanting world which pre-school children just seem to love - and not just pre-schoolers, I have to say, but also Reception and Year 1 kids - and even their Grannys too, if our house is anything to go by.

Derek Jacobi's gentle narration is a pleasure to listen to, always striking the perfect note.

I really cannot recommend this highly enough.

Beautiful!!5
Absolutely beautiful programme. Not sure whether I should be worrying more about my daughters eyesight as she stands an inch away from the screen so as not to miss anthing or the relationship between Iggle Piggle and Upsy Daisy.... (all that kissing, getting into Upsy Daisys bed and private rooms in the Pinky Ponk......!!!)

Took the dvd on holiday with us and we watched an episode each evening before bath as we do at home - worked a treat and she (generally!) went down without a problem.

Only hitch now, is she has figured out it is bath and bed after Night Garden so once the carousel comes on she immediately become very absorbed in "playing" with just half an eye on the programme so as not to miss anything but also to look very busy!!

Anyway, every under 3 should have this dvd - In the Night Garden on tap!!!

Brilliant!5
My 18 month old son adores this programme. It's the only programme where he'll be silent the whole way through it (until the end when he starts singing and dancing along!). The BBC have really struck gold I think with this. Highly recommended.
