eGo - small but perfectly formed
These are very neat external drives. Firewire works flawlessly of course ... why does it look as though Apple are dropping it from consumer machines? The USB cable is double headed at the Mac end - with an extra connection for more power should you need it. I've had this drive working from just one USB port on my MacPro, a first generation MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air (Nov. '08 model) ... both the latter when on battery. NOTE - an alternative (shorter and neater) USB to mini-USB cable (possibly from a digital camera?) did NOT work, only the one supplied with the drive. If you need to use two USB ports be aware that they need to be close to each other - one on either side of you computer chassis is unlikely to work, the cable is too short. The drive isn't fast, but is almost silent. Highly recommended ... but make sure you buy the biggest one you can afford ;-)

iomega 320GB Portable Hard Drive
Excellent hard drive,lightweight and easy to use with macbook and windows pc, no problems whatsoever. Just plug in and go. Has a second usb connection attached to the main cable to boost power if required. Fits well into the case logic case.

Easy
At last a product that just about installs itself. I plugged it into my Macbook using the firewire connector. It set itself up by loading Time Machine, asked me one question, and then backed up all my files. Perfect. And it comes in white to match my Macbook.
