I bought a portable formac drive a while ago, and within about two months the plastic casing started to come away from the inner. It had taken no major knocks, and just seemed to be falling apart, so I started to look for a replacement.

This external hard drive ticks every box that I was looking for although it does have to be plugged in at the socket to run, but for me that was never really an issue, as when I'm on the move with my laptop, I don't really need to have everything that my hard drive has on it. The drive is ready to go straight away (I use Vista, and it just had to be plugged in, and it was away), the transfer speeds are brilliant, and it looks robust enough to take many an inevitable fall from my desk without compromising on style, as it certainly looks the part too.

I would highly recommend this for someone looking to back up data safely, and doesn't want the risk of a cheaper, 'friendlier' model.

Having an old PC I was concerned about losing vital documents due to PC failure. I checked with Which magazine to help find a suitable external hard drive. I am not disapointed it works well, is quiet and was easy to install. It did freeze my PC first use but after re booting the PC I then switched on the new item as recommended. it all worked perfectly.
