You can set it to answer in dec aswell!
If you simply set the calculator - something like shift setup - to lineo instead of mathio it will not answer in fractions and will operate like the older models. Although the new interface is much easier.
brilliant
Contrary to other reviews, the calculator does not violate exam board regulations, which forbid symbolic algebraic manipulation, something the calculator is not capable of. This is the best possilbe calculator for UK exams.
This calculator is amazing, it does everything you could wnat short of graphing. The calculator does both intergration and differentiation (numeircal), invaluble for checking answers in exams. It also has a brilliant stats mode, and has the 'natural display' that lets you input formulae as you would write them. It gives answers in surd and fraction form, allowing for the best possible accuracy. It has a complex number and matrices mode also. The calculator will also solve equations if given one of the variables eg. 2Y=3X-4, solve for X if Y=4. It will do that for almost any function (except integrals and differentials). This calculator has almost all possible functionality required for maths to A level, and is still allowed to be used in the exam. The best thing is the price, it is so cheap. Anyone not using this calculator in an exam is missing out.
Excellent
If you need a calculator for A Level Maths and aren't willing to deal with the complications / limitations of graphic calculators, then this calculator will be your best friend>
As a Further Maths student, this got me a few extra marks on papers (think C2) where they give you an integral and ask for the gradient function (just type it in, hah!).
Needless to say, the extra features are somewhat pointless. if you can't integrate polynomials you're probably in for a rough ride, so i only really reccommend using some of the more 'advanced' functions of the calculator for checking.
Statistics, on the other hand, is a different story. Pearsons Product Moment Correlation Coefficient anybody? how about regression? probability in the standard model / normal distribution? the STAT button is like 7th heaven when you figure out the tables on this calculator. say goodbye to simple arithmetic costing you 20 marks, as long as the raw data is supplied you can work it out automatically (ok i know Sxx/Sxy is in the forumula book but the equation isn't pretty...)
Thanks for everything :)
