New R5305
I purchased a Roomba 530 after seeing the advert in Radio Times & realising that I do not hoover as much as I should. After much research, including Amazon reviews, I came to the conclusion the development of the device appeared to be sufficient to purchase. The 530 has better edge cleaning + geographical logic than the Silver & I did not require the scheduling of the 560.

It is excellent. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Almost entirely dismantleable! Good build quality, with things clicking into place solidily and with confidence. I just stood there stationary, watching it. Doesn't zip around at a great speed. Doesn't bash into furniture thought there are reports of it not seeing the darkest furniture immediately. Even tried it in the dark! Only got stuck on a 2cm-high triangluar-profile keyboard stand & after getting between a high abrasive doormat & a wall, when it played it's Teletubby-style "uh-oh" alert which is really cute ;).

Not cleaned a particularily dirty area of the transition between dining-room and kitchen, but maybe after a few more cleans and putting it on spot-mode should improve this.

Has bashed into a (repairable) ground-level model so I advise small delicate items are removed first. A complicated den-room which has lots of things on the floor will require a new 'outline' system to make it Roomba-proof, so looking forward to doing this! Also, move items around slightly to suit the 34cm-width so ti gets into every corner!

Very very good value, especially from Amazon. Maybe shop round for replacement brushes. The manual says to replace these every 2 months. I might try 4 months.

If you have a cleaner person this will problably pay for itself as the cleaner will not have to hoover, therefore saving labour-cost!

Pet owner loves irobot Roomba 505
When I heard that a hooovering robot was on sale, I knew it was for me! We have a lot of pets and a busy lifestyle, so it made sense to automate! I was amazed by the sheer volume of 5 star reviews on Amazon of the Roomba 560. If so many people thought so highly of it it had to be good. We didn't need the advance pre-programming facilities of the 560 so went ahead and ordered the 530. I have played with it most of today and it really is amazing. It gives me the same feeling I remember having when I opgraded from a twin tub and bought my first front-loading washing machine - you just press a button and that's all there is to it? It is an excellent little robot and is so well-designed and clever. It gets to places that the upright can't do without furniture moving (eg. under the beds) and it does all the edges very carefully. Its sensors negotiate carefully around everything, only occasionally bumping very gently against objects. Best of all, the dog doesn't bark at it (which made conventional hoovering a noisy event) and the cats are curious but not alarmed. Modern technology at its best - I would highly recommend it.

Good product but save money and buy it from MAKRO which only sells it for £170 almost 100 quid less
