Clear, easy to read guide on being your own boss (or not!)
This is the book I've been looking for. Having recently moved from Cambridge to Devon to relocate with my family, I found myself out of work. Having previously had superficial thoughts on becoming self-employed, but with no idea where, or how to start, I needed a guide. This is the one. With sections on self-test (are you REALLY the kind of person to run your own successful business?), identification of the type of business to start, right through to insurance, pensions, VAT, book-keeping, the book is an invaluable reference. There are real-life case histories, with succuss and disaster stories. It empahsises the drive and committment needed to make a success, but also reminds you of the rewards to be had. All in all, it tells all about leaving the status of "employee", and becoming a "boss". The layout and style of writing, make this book very easy to read. I now feel as if I'm primed to make my first tenacious steps into creating my own business.
