From the Author
THE BEST BOOK WE'VE EVER WRITTEN!
My wife and I have written four books together. This is our latest and our very best. We poured ourselves into this project and found the best 101 stories out of 4200 we read. We make sure that the stories aren't preachy nor are they pollyanna-ish. Real people writing about real situations they've confronted. Meaningful and hopeful stories are what we seek. Write to us at our email address. We love to hear from our readers. Check out Acts of Kindness and the Daily Journal of Kindness, two of our other books.

one helping a day-- keeps your heart from astray
Ironically enough, I was sitting in the bathroom keeping my best friends little boy company as he took his bath when picked up the book that was laying on the floor from lack of somthing better to do. I opened it to a page that cought my eye and instantly became engaged. I read for what must have been a good 10 minutes when my thoughts were inturupted by a small voice in the tub. "Why are you crying?" the concerned 5 year old asked me with wide eyes and a caring heart. I thought about how I would answer this question. I smiled as I wrapped his damp body in a towel and lifted him onto my lap. "I'm happy-- and I love you." he gave me the most refreshing smile and the tightest hug, and in turn- the best gift he could have given me at that moment. The story I had just read reminded me of him so much-- it was about a nieve and big hearted little boy who was willing to give blood for his sister. Not realizing that he wasn't giving all of his blood- he thought he was going to die. The heart of the little boy in the story took me back to the time when matty's little sister had fallen on the ice, yet, she didn't cry nearly as hard as her older brother had. Children teach us so much--- and this book helps them do that. I spent the next few days engaged in the book-- often reading through teary eyes and almost always with chills. i finished that book and preceeded to buy a 2nd and 3rd helping. Although I've finished the books, I try to read one story a day when I first wake up and another before I fall asleep. It makes for a good beginning and end to every day. I strongly suggest that anyone read this book-- old or young, rich or poor, strong or weak. for it is sure to soften and strengthen even the hardest and most gaurded of hearts. - megan - 19 yrs old
This book, like the first three has moved me.
I had read all three of the Chicken Soup books until 5 days ago when I recieved book 4 for my 11th birthday. There was one story that I read that made me realize what beautiful really is. That story was called "Beautiful on the Inside". It was about a little girl who when told she was beautiful, replied boredly, "Yes, I know!". Then her mother explained to her how to be beautiful on the inside. Then two years after, the child's friend's mother had died and they went to visit her grave. The little girl showed great care and love and sorrow to her friend. Then, after the child's friend left, she asked her mother,"Mommy, was I beautiful on the inside?"
Gives you a whole new prespective of life....
These books have touched so many people I know in so many ways. One of my grade school teachers read one of the books and it helped her to get through some tough times and she is one of the greatest people I know. I am only 14 and I especially enjoyed the Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. I bought the book for a few of my friends as b-day gifts and they loved it. Where I go to high school, everyone there has it. I just wanted to let you know that those are the best books I know of and I enjoy them very much. Sincerely, Carla Sieczkowski Detroit, Michigan
