Manufacturer's Description
Shoot fast - from wide angle to ultra-tele with 15x zoom
28mm wide-angle and 15X ultra high zoom capability (35mm film equivalent f = 28-420mm). The Pro815 is equipped with a 15X optical zoom with a focal length of 28- 420mm(35mm equivalent), this means you can shoot from wide angle to telephoto with one lens. The Pro815 has four low-dispersion glass lens elements specially manufactured to minimize chromatic aberration that can occur when wide-angle and ultra high zoom are supported at the same time. In addition, it employs 2 aspherical lenses for the correction of spherical aberration and lateral colours for the entire zoom range from wide to tele. This lens combined with the high-sensitivity CCD means the Pro815 provides the best image quality possible in its class.
A world class Schneider-Kreuznach Lens
The Schneider-Kreuznach lens produces crystal clear images. By using a highly refractive lens, chromatics and distortion are eliminated. For more natural-looking pictures, each lens surface is multi-coated to minimize the "ghost" or "flare" phenomena.
Enjoy the view through the large 3.5" high quality LCD
The Pro815 has the world's largest TFT LCD used in a digital camera. With the Pro815, anybody can easily take a picture and view images through its large LCD, the large LCD is also a real benefit for better composition. By using Transmissive with Micro Reflective(TMR)* technology, it can be displayed in bright conditions and outdoors. This, coupled with the 16.7million true colours supported means you can share your images with other people because the viewing angle is wide and the colours are well reproduced.
Take low level shots with top LCD
Another great feature of the Pro815 is waist-level shooting. The 1.44" wide colour TFT LCD of the Pro815 displays a preview screen in real time, allowing the waist-level shooting style often adopted by professional photographers. This LCD position enables high-level shooting as well as taking pictures from various angles. The top LCD can also be used as a status LCD to display shooting data. Since the required information is available on the LCD at all times, you can shoot a subject or choose a desired function more quickly.
High Speed mode minimises camera shake
The Pro 815, with its large 2/3 CCD, is superior in sensitivity to the previous 500 mega-pixel model with the 1/2.5 CCD. It has a high-speed shutter mode with camera-shake reduction through the use of its high sensitivity. The high-speed shutter mode is useful for photographing fast moving objects.
The fast response time
The Pro 815 achieves very fast response time performing a 1.0 second startup and 1.3 second shot-to-shot speed. It also allows you to shoot subjects moving at high speed by offering shutter speeds up to 1/4,000 second. Pro815 includes high speed continuous shooting at 2.5 frames/sec, normal continuous shooting that lets you shoot and then view all the images taken, straight after on the LCD. It also has ultra high speed continuous shooting that allows you to shoot up to ten 1 Mega pixel-sized images per second. As it has high-speed USB 2.0 connectivity, images taken can be transferred to a PC quickly.

Wide and Wonderful
This is a truely lovely piece of equipment. The 28mm wide angle lens is distortion free, from edge to egde of the frame. A great manual zoom gives complete control, and what a long zoom range! The large lens and battery make the camera quite heavy. The built in flash is pretty powerful, and in the auto setting, daylight and flash pictures have a good auto white balance adjustment. A fantastic rear LCD screen, 3.5 inches (almost 9 centimeters), is fully adjustable for brightness and shows a good image, even in dark conditions. A large battery gives longer than expected use before needing a charge. The bonus of a small top LCD is a brilliant addition. Packed with features, I give full marks to Samsung on this camera. However I could not source accessories such as the external flash as yet.
Great for Beginners and Professionals alike
As soemone who is relatively new to digital photography I was a little nervous about operating such a professional what looks at first to be a complicated camera BUT I am very impressed with the Samsung 815 and how easy it is to use! It has given me the confidence to continue with my new hobby.... Was recommended to me by a friend. The controls are really easy to use and the instructions very clear. The picture quality is excellent - I have not managed to take a bad photo yet. The camera is large and I did struggle to get a good camera bag for it - but the samsonite trekking 140 does the trick. There are 3 lcd displays - a huge one at the back and a smaller on on top to enable waist shooting - there is also an lcd viewfinder with diopter adjuster for thsoe of us that wear glasses. The menu ontrols are very straightforward and the pop up flash is very bright. There is an additional flash gun available for this model but I doubt i will ever need it. The zoom can be adjusted automatically or manually and again is extremely easy to use. there is auto focus lock too. I found the software as easy to use as any other samsung camera and downloading pictures onto the pc is very very simple. all in all the features of this camera are excellent and a must for beginners and professionals alike - love the quality, love the lcd dispaly and would definitely buy another camera in this range.
What a picture!!!
This camera takes glorious pictures and using a 4GB memory card will happily hold up to 500 pictures, and possibly more, which covers me for a fortnights holiday. Battery needed charging only once in that time.
Pictures were in 3440 by 2440 and some used fill in flash also.
The viewfinder cuts down on battery usage rather than using the big back screen.
It is really easy to use in auto mode and allows you to dip into the manual functions as you get more used to it. Worth every penny.
