Plastic but quite tough
I was disappointed to find this toy was all plastic. In fact, I immediately bought another (metal) rifle elsewhere, expecting the plastic to break very quickly.
To my surprise, it's very durable. The replacement metal one has broken, instead!
It's quite small and the paper strip caps of today are useless. It's a bit expensive for what you get. However, my little boy loves it and is very pleased with the "telescopic sight"!

Lone Star are the business!
If your're going to buy any toy guns make sure it's a Lone Star as they last for years. I don't mind that they don't do a metal rifle any more (probably prohibitive cost of raw materials) because the detail and mechanism (which is still metal) are top class! My two dakota rifles have been shooting for about 6 years now and still look and sound amazing.

Very poor value for money.
The toy rifle is made of plastic. In the advertised image, the toy appears to be manufactured of metal due to the black/metallic finish. The plastic is of the brittle type and in my opinion, will not last very long in the hands of boisterous children. I was very disappointed when I opened the packaging as I was under the impression that the toy was made of die cast metal and the fact that it is plastic was NOT made clear in the product description. As the toy rifle is plastic, I regard it as extremely poor value for the price that I paid. I'm not at all happy. The product description MUST make the fact clear that the toy is ALL plastic.
