Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
James Bond themes tend to be just as memorable as their movie counterparts and, to a certain extent, just as time sensitive. While many fans can remember the Monty Norman Orchestra's steamy Dr. No theme or Shirley Bassey's "Goldfinger," how many of us remember Rita Coolidge's dated "All Time High" from Octopussy or A-Ha's theme from The Living Daylights? Yes, just as we all have our favorite Bonds, we all have our favorite eras of Bond movie music. But surprisingly, whether they're New Wave, soul, or just Euro-pop inspired, most are still worth hearing. There are some real gems on this compilation: On Her Majesty's Secret Service's "We Have All the Time in the World" by Louis Armstrong, the Thunderball theme sung by Tom Jones, and the spunky theme to The Man With the Golden Gun by Lulu. Just overlook those sporadic lean years and you have a pretty stiff soundtrack cocktail here. --Jason Verlinde

Best of Bond....James Bond
There is perhaps no better way to start a James Bond CD than with the James Bond theme from Dr No, and this CD does exactly that. Over the next 60 minutes, the theme tunes from each bond up to The World is Not Enough are pumped through your stereo with the touch of class that only Bond himself posesses. All sound as good as the first time you heard them at the cinema during the opening credits, and although the songs aren't played in chronological order, its a minor point. With 22 songs being chosen from 19 Bond films, there are of course a few little bonuses, such as the cinema theme tune release from Goldeneye that was not previously released.
Overall this is a fantastic CD, which is unfortunately, already a little out of date, with Madonna's Die Another Day song just released, but dont let this put you off. Nowhere else will you find so many great songs from the Bond films in one compact disc, from Moby's remix of the theme tune, to the orignal Bond theme tune, Sheryl Crow to Shirley Bassey, this CD is a must for any James Bond enthusiast.
Great to Drive With!
If you have a decent CD player in your car, then put this on at full blast! This is, of course, a really blokey thing but if you get the first track at full volume on the stereo, you really do feel feel that you are driving that James Bond Aston Martin/Lotus/BMW/Aston Martin and can impress the woman in your life even if you have a Fiat Punto!!!!!!
Just to say that this is the most definitive "Bond" album to listen to at a very reasonable price (I bought this driving from Kent to Glasgow last year & loved it!) and you get all the classics.
I hope you enjoy James as much as I do & this album transports me to all those films that I watched when I was young. Oh gosh, I want to be a spy for the British Government...................
Nobody Does It Better
So you may have bought previous efforts at bond collections but this is the best yet narrowly beating the 30th anniversary double CD pack which is well worth the hunting. The major bonuses are the extra tracks from all three to date Brosnan films.
Sit back and enjoy 60+ minutes of pure musical joy with all the classics from John Barry's perfect arrangement of Monty Normans legendary James Bond Theme. To the silky smooth John Barry Strings on From Russia With Love, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds are Forever and Moonraker. The Beyond Bombastic Goldfinger and Thunderball, and of course the unofficial 007 anthem Nobody Does It Better.
The Three Brosnan themes are clumped together at the end in chronological order along with Moby's great reworking of The James Bond Theme (can't wait to hear Paul Oakenfold's version from Die Another Die). The Real Gem though is the version of the theme from he trailers which has been crying out for release since it was first shown in 1994!
Now Pay Attention 007 play this CD on the Motorway not in built up areas you have a licence to kill not to break the traffic laws! Drivers on the A2 can PLAY IT LOUD as the retrace the chase in Moonraker (the book) between Hugo Drax and 007.
Well worth the money. . . . . . penny.
