Amazon.co.uk Review
Souvenir is the sound of a side of Ibiza you rarely see. An Ibiza that isn't full of drunken yobs and scantily-clad club babes. An Ibiza that is beautiful, tranquil, warm, sunny and drenched in the glow of an almost timeless sunset. This is the Ibiza that Jose Padilla knows and loves, and it is this that he has poured into his debut long player. You can almost feel the sea gently lapping round your feet throughout, as ambient soundwashes and light trip hop beats give way to Spanish guitar and flamenco sounds. Padilla's Spanish roots shine through, and there is a refreshing emphasis on live instrumentation. There is the odd surprise--occasional forays into more uptempo styles such as breakbeat--but all in all Souvenir is a rare treat: a chill out album that doesn't descend into self-indulgent noodling. --Matt Anniss

the embodiment of summer5
for fans of the café del mar series our man jose has put together an album that tingles nostalgic nerves and radiates with summer twilight vibes. I discovered this album sitting on a window ledge watching the world go by on a summer's evening and it appears apt for all chill out enthusiasts from the lounge smokers to all back to mine sessions. Mr padilla has put together tunes that del mar addicts will recognise but has managed to transform them with intriguing additions together with up beat tunes, such as "bosa rosa", to create an experience climaxing in the wind down timeless "la mar"- which seems to sum up the experience that has teased the listener with personal historic recollections together with sublime interludes of what could only be expressed as the "chill" factor leaving one feeling like they have been experiencing a "souvenier".

Turn the lights down.........5
Turn the lights down, light some candle's or a real fire if you have one, crack open a bottle of red wine and let Jose take you on a little journey of memories....If you like the 'Cafe del Mar' feeling this will ignite your memories. Or if you are stuck in a traffic jam, turn your windscreen wipers and heater on full, and it is sure to make that dark, damp, misarable winter journey home one you will look forward to...This album is Sunshine, even in the darkest hour. It's one you need to have in your collection.

Excellent4
For all you Cafe Del Mar fans, Jose is the compiler of the volumes, so this album needs no further introduction. Serious music to chill-out to!
