Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Claire Teal has proved herself equally adept as pop singer and jazz diva. On her eighth album, Get Happy, she mixes up a bit of everything: pop and jazz standards along with some of her own material. As the title suggests, it's a largely upbeat album, unsurprising for a singer that exudes warmth and cheer much more naturally than melancholy or wistfulness. The chirpy swing of the title track is matches by at least half a dozen others--the waltzy "Get It On Sam", the gutsy versions of Irving Berlin's "Cheek to Cheek" and Van Morrison's "Moondance" among them. Slower songs balance the album out, though these are far from lachrymose ballads. Neither the intimate, Latin-esque opener "All for Love", nor the former Roy Orbison hit "Love Hurts" or the vaguely sultry version of Neil Sedaka's "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do" sound very heartbroken--just technically perfect and dreamy to listen to. If there's any criticism of Get Happy, it's that Teal and her band don't bother taking any risks. But then you weren't really expecting them to, were you? --Danny McKenna

Album Description
A unique singer, songwriter, broadcaster and live performer Clare Teal is an extraordinary talent and one of Britain's most exciting entertainers. Recorded in just a matter of days with her five piece band `Get Happy' bears testimony to Clare's enjoyment of the recording process and the way she wholeheartedly embraces the challenge. On the familiar songs Clare has that rare, and almost unique, ability of making you feel that you suddenly hear the lyric as if for the very first time. On the original songs, `High Love', `Get On It Sam' and `All For Love' Clare demonstrates her understanding of and passion for classic songwriting as she draws from the likes of Esquivel, Bacharach and the sounds of yesteryear and marries them with the lyrics that are inspired by her own life experiences.

Winner of numerous awards including British Jazz Vocalist of the Year 2005 & 2007 and BBC Jazz Vocalist of the Year 2006, Clare is also a seasoned Radio 2 broadcaster. Having previously presented `Clare Teal's Jazz Divas' and deputised for Sarah Kennedy Clare is currently presenting both `The Big Band Special' and `Al Bowlly - Britain's First Pop Star', a series profiling the 1930's singer.

"Muisc to melt to" - Jamie Cullum, 2008

"Wonderful. Worth raving about" - Michael Parkinson

"Ladies and gents, I'd like to introduce someone that I'm a fan of. She's a threat! When I say a threat, she's a triple threat - she writes, she sings and she can do like a fire thing right!? Please go out and buy Clare Teal's record! - Michael Bublé

Muddy and Claire make a fantastic double act ...long may it last.
This album is a must for all Claire fans and all lovers of female jazz. It explains why she is the NO 1 in female Jazz.
Go and see her live..its just as great.

FANTASTIC5
Brilliant - Clare at her "jazzy" best ...

From the 'sultry' 'sexy' Mistress in "All For Love" - "Begin The Beguine" & "The Very Thought Of You" & the 'cheeky-giggle' in "All For Love" ..... To the 'buckets of bubbles' of "Get Happy" & "Moondance" (IMO heaps better than Van Morrison's version) - Claire transports your mind & body into a swaying world of fabulous music & for 50 glorious minutes all your worries are casts to one side ...

THANK YOU Claire ....

Absolutely Blooming Marvellous!5
I don't really need to add much to what has already been said about this album, except that it is fantastic, buy it, sit back and enjoy!

From the moment, the first few bars of 'All For Love' starts, you will hear Clare Teal, her band and jazz itself at its absolute best.

What I love about Clare Teal, apart from her amazing talent, is that she is obviously enjoying singing - to me, you can actually hear her smiling.

So, my advice, buy this album, buy all of her albums and get yourself to one of her concerts - you will be blown away!
