Editorial Reviews

Review
This book is terrific. Drifting is a popular sport in Japan ( possibly because they can't have much legal fun in Japan on the streets). It involves keeping the car in a controlled slide, with the rear end hanging wide. This is the sort of technique once necassery on race circuits when tyres hadn't much grip, and still employed to spectacular effect on rally circuits. There are good action shots of smoking Japanese super-coupes, and a usefull list of cars from there, the US and Europe that have the necassery chassis drivelines. Tyre choice is interesting. Calvin Wan advises plenty of grip on the front to set up and hold the line. The rear tyres should break traction progressivly. --Yorkshire Post

The dark art of Drifting is now a mainstream motorsport, with major profile bolsters coming form movies with ever-longer titles, usually involving the word Tokyo. Anyone who has watched or indeed tried drifting will know it's a fascintaing and visually spectacular sport and now top boy Calvin Wan has published his long-awaited 'bible' on the subject. Packed with usefull advice, performance and tuning tips and profusley illustrated with photos, most by top snapper Antonio Alvendia, it has something for everyone, from beginners to aspiring professionals ( and there is a good living to be made from the top guns). A fascinating read, which covers subjects from choosing the right car to clutch selection, link drifiting, acceleration initiations and speed managment. There's also a usefull and succinct look at the basic principles of motor racing. If you happen to own an acre or two of empty tarmac or know of a decent unused roundabout, let me know please. Get my drift? --Dorset Echo

Whenever we have a question about drifting, there are two guys we go to: Falken team driver Calvin Wan, and photographer and historian of the sport Antonio Alvendia. the pair recently teamed up to produce another book on drifting...while the words are well-penned, Alvendia's photography makes the book a visual treat --Grassroots Motorsport
