A reissue of a popular and successful book, "The Knitted Farmyard" contains a collection of patterns designed to create a whole farm, including family figures, animals, buildings and fields. With drawings by Jan Messent and charming pictures of the farm and its occupants, you are shown how to make ducks, horses, sheep, hens, pigs, the farmer and his wife, a barn, ploughed fields, hayfields and much more. The base of the farm is the size of a small rug and would be ideal for a child's room. The quantities of materials needed for each piece are quite small, so you could use up leftover yarn, or whatever you have available. This book is fun, easy to follow and full of amusing, innovative ideas. Create something fantastic and knit the whole farmyard in different colours. There is plenty of scope for individual touches and extra accessories.

Customer Reviews
Inadequate and not what I expected
This is a really disappointing book. I was expecting it to give alot more detail but it concentrates on how to make the knitted animals and not the actual base, some of which has no instruction AT ALL on how to make it. There is only 2 pages on the rug with instuctions and a diagram which you are required to scale up and transpose onto the canvas.
The rug is mostly tufted and knotted and not knitted at all, the flowers and details are crocheted but it doesn't tell you how to do that either. I am not happy with this book at all and wish I hadn't bought it.
Really fun project!
I love this book. I bought it when I was pregnant and had a lot of time where I had to be sitting down resting. I have made most of the things in the book It took some getting used to the fact that the instructions are to be interpreted to your own taste and adapted to what materials you have, once I got used to that I let my imagination do the rest and my children are very happy with the result.
If you want a book that shows you exactly what to do all the time, then this book is not for you. So I have dropped a star for that reason. Other than that one of the best craft books I've ever bought.
I even wrote a blog around making the rug showing photos of the different stages of making it!
Excellent, fun and inspiring
I was reluctant to buy this book after the poor review from one customer but the photographs of the knitted animals, buildings and people persuaded me to go ahead: and we love it. This is one of five 'knitting toys/animals' books that my children have. And their favourite. Lovely animals, good explanations, plenty of interest and play value with houses, people.... A great book!
