About the Artist
Joe Longthorne has conquered numerous adversaries during his thirty year singing career. A life threatening illness and bankrupt record company have been swept aside by adulation at concerts and best selling albums and videos.After appearing on Yorkshire TV s Junior Startime as a teenager, Joe s reached national attention with his appearance on London Weekend TV series Search for a Star. Joe s own successful TV series followed, as well as appearances at Royal Variety Performances. Joe signed a contract with Telstar Records, who launched his recording career in 1988 and released four successful album releases. 40 of these songs are included on this 2CD release All The Songs I Love .Joe has a great rapport with other artists and fans alike. He has a large repertoire of voice impersonations and Shirley Bassey, one of the subjects, says:Joe can do me better than I can do myself. He knows many of his fans on first name terms and the continued popularity of his musical appearances make him one of England s most popular singers. When Joe and his orchestra hit town, his thousands of fans emerge, many of them on first name terms with Joe. In 1989 he was diagnosed as having lymphoma and began a course of treatment. Joe struggled with the illness, and suffered until 2005 when he had a life saving operation at the Leeds General Infirmary. Joe has subsequently helped the hospital to raise funds. Now enjoying improved health, he has performed over one hundred theatre dates since his operation. He always remembers his roots and Joe s success is a fine story of triumph over adversary.
