Manufacturer's Description
The Epson Stylus DX range has an all-in-one printing solution for everyone from families to small businesses. Compact and affordable, they all deliver high quality printing, scanning and stand-alone copying.
Compact, affordable, complete desktop printing solutions; The Epson DX series has a model to suit everyone from cost-conscious students and families to small businesses. Each offers a huge choice of functions, but takes up very little desk space. You can print out superb quality colour prints that dry instantly and last for years, make copies without ever using a computer, and even scan documents as digital files to save or print.
Convenient individual inks; You only need to replace the ink that runs out with an Epson Stylus DX all-in-one, because they use individual ink cartridges. Replacements are affordable and guarantee maximum quality.
Epson quality stands out every time;Whatever you print, Epson DURABrite Ultra ink ensures maximum colour, clarity and durability on any paper. Every document will look great, while your photos will be at least as good as any high street photo lab you can use Epson Glossy Photo Paper for a truly professional finish. But the best part is that Epson DURABrite Ultra inks dry instantly, are smudge resistant, waterproof and last for more than 100 years.
The beauty is in the detail; It's great fun to print your own standard size 10x15cm photos, but with an Epson Stylus DX all-in-one you can print borderless pictures up to A4 size. And at a print resolution of up to 5760 optimised dpi on suitable media, you can be sure that every detail will really stand out.

Customer Reviews
Superb all rounder - much better quality print than the norm.
I purchased the DX4000 after having seen a friends old CX3600 model (this is basically a much updated version of that) and seen some of the scans and prints he'd done on that. To be honest the photo output is very good rather than excellent when compared with a dedicated photo printer but when you take into account the price and the fact that this can scan and photocopy and print standard documents quietly and quickly it is brilliant value. If you want a machine that can do everything - I particularly like the fact that you can photocopy independently without having to turn the computer on - then this really has to be worth serious consideration. Something else worth looking into is the price of inks. While there are cheaper models out there, noticeably Lexmark, their ink prices are extortionate and the quality of print is never quite the same either. With this printer there are individual inks which can be replaced so it saves wastage and there are some extremely good deals available online.
Sneaky Epson
Bought this printer for working from home. Scanner is excellent generating jpeg images of documents or pictures. Printer chews ink cartriges initially and models since Feb 07 have been designed by Epson not to work with generic cartridges.
At least one supplier now claims to have cracked the problem.testing it out.
Note - ALL of the colour cartridges must contain ink for the printer to work - even in black and white.
Quality of print (text or picture) is good - rate of printing is slow.
Probably a good option for someone not printing much and needing a good scanner. Acts nicely as a stand alone ( if slow) colour photocopier. If the latest generic ink cartridges turn out to work with the latest printer then it will have been a reasonable value purchase.
Seems a little slow
I am overall happy with this printer, but if you want even just a black and white page printed, it seems to take far longer than my last printer (also an Epson) I haven't printed that much yet (maybe 30 pages !?), but the black ink is indicating low already.
The good thing is that you can buy separate inks and get them on line far cheaper than the epson ones.
I would always recommend epson, my last one lasted 8 years and only broke down after being dropped !
