Customer Reviews
Would not recommend for young children.
I bought this book as a Nursery school teacher and I have to say that I will not be using it in school because alot of the text is black on Navy Blue background which even I have a real difficulty reading. Words do not at times rhyme with each other and it also refers to Father Christmas riding through the sky on a 'sledge' and not a 'sleigh'.
I was disappointed with this book thinking it would be very funny and humourous like the blurb states; but clearly not. Im not being harsh in my review as I do try to find positives but in this case there are none. It reads very slowly (ie) on the first page it reads ...1 cup of milk is left. Page reads ...2 cups of lemonade are left etc... Maximum of 5 words per page
Now suitable for 4-8 years like it states. I would say 3-4 years at the very most.
A Christmas cracker!
I just bought this book to give as a gift and I think it's brilliant. I think the rhymes and rhythm of the text work really well and the artwork is lovely. There is a real mix of colours and textures and kids will really like to count along with Father Christmas. The whole idea of Santa needing a wee is very funny...well, I laughed and I'm sure my 5 year-old nephew will too when I give it to him! A Christmas Cracker!
Hilarious!
Nicholas Allan's books are firm favourites in our house and his latest is a triumph. It's a counting book which goes through the various drinks Father Christmas has been left by the families along his route, and the inevitably uncomfortable results! It causes so much hilarity that I think it will be asked for over and over long after the tinsel has been packed away for another year. Highly recommended.
