DVD Description
You don't wake up wanting to be someone's mistress - somehow it just happens.

Set in a world where friends have become the new family, Mistresses follows the lives and loves of a group of 30-something girlfriends who met at university. But their lives have taken very different turns. Katie, a doctor and the 'grown-up', has been having an affair, with one of her patients. Whilst her best mate Trudi is grieving the loss of her husband killed in 9/11. And there's Jessica - her anarchic lifestyle supplies lots of gossip and humour - but is there more going on than even her closest friends now about? And then there's happily married Siobhan - or is she? Part drama, part thriller, this is a bold take on modern love.

Starring Sarah Parish (Cutting It), Sharon Small (About a Boy), Orla Brady (Nip/Tuck), Shelley Conn (Part Animals).

Synopsis
Becoming a mistress isn't something than most women set out to do, it just seems to happen. Mistresses follows the fortunes of a group of thirtysomethings who have been friends since university: Katie has become a doctor and has been secretly seeing a patient. Her best friend—Trudie—grieves the loss of her husband who died in 9/11. Then there's Jessica who is constantly the focus of the group's gossip, and the seemingly happily married Siobhan. Mistresses is an epic tale of modern love and drama at its best.

Sex and the City comes home....5
4 girls, all very close friends, but all very different (one doctor, one lawyer, one housewife, one city girl) live out their loves lives for us to see in all its glory. Yes, Sex and the City I hear you cry. Well yes but set in the UK and its decidely grittier and decidely more watchable for men.

Highly recommended!!

Good old fashioned escapim4
The story lines are ridiculous, the cast all far too good looking and the sex scenes pretty cringy- but...this series is captivating and thoroughly enjoyable after a hard day at work.

The title is slightly misleading, since technically, only two of four are actually mistresses. Comparisions have been made to sex and the city, but the only real similarity is that the drama focuses on four women. The fashion element certainly isn't there.

Sarah Parish is excellent as ever. Orla Brady is also very good. The interesting thing about this drama, which makes it differ to sex and the city, is that the behaviour of some of these women makes them not particularly likeable, yet interesting none the less. Take Sarah Parishe's character- has affair with married man, as his GP, perscribes morphene when he discovers he is terminally ill, bumps him off out of mercy and then proceeds to sleep with his son! Yep, totally silly, but entertaining none the less and it's to Sarah Parishes credit that she makes this selfish and silly GP likeable.

It's shallow at times, moving at others and certainly never dull. I hope there is to be a second series- enjoy!

I know the series is good when...5
I know a series is good when one episode ends and I just have to watch the next one. This is a show about friendship and cheating. Although you want to dislike some of the characters because of their cheating you can't deny that urge to learn more. The four stars are best friends and come together in various pairings to help each other with their relationships, and sometimes the friend is sympathetic and sometimes not but that is what makes this show honest.
I have seen some of these actors in other movies and TV shows which is what drew me to this series but the story kept me watching.
