Great City sim5
This is a very good game its very fun to play if you are into city building and simulation like games. The visuals good as you can also zoom in and look at your metropolis in first person to take in all the details like people walking the streets having conversations or arguments, watch fire crews tackle burning buildings or just look at traffic being bumper to bumper in rush hour.

Its a great game but if you already have the previous version of City Life then it may not be worth getting as thats the real reason for some of the negative reviews it does not have much new content over the previous version you also likeone other reviewer has said going to need a fairly powerful viedo card i tried this game on an Nvidia 7300LE and it was very slow but once i got a 9600GT it ran perfectly smoothly so a decent video card may be needed

Forget SimCity, this is the game you've been waiting for!5
This is an amazing game. If you've played city builders since Sim City 1 and been disappointed by the later versions because they railroad you in terms of what's possible, poor graphics and dumb politics...prepare to be amazed by CL 2008.

This European take on the SC universe looks stunning and allows you, finally, to drive around your own city a la GTA San Andreas. People have little dramas going on and you can see roads, shops, schools, sunsets, nightscapes and parks all come to life in first person glory...or zoom out to see glistening mountains and rivers.

The city sounds are breathtakingly real and immersive.

The game is a bit buggy, but nowhere near as some reviews would have you believe (most poor reviews are for the 2005 version and this version has over 350 buildings and is much improved).

It's such fun the play for hours and hours you'll forgive the little rough edges. The social structure has a real European flavour (not the rapacious mercenary dog-eat-dog politics of the Sim City world) and driving round your own city is joyous.

Buy this game, you'll be delighted.

A game destroyed by its list of bugs and errors1
I have a very competent laptop that i've enjoyed playing games such as Supreme Commander, Company of Heroes and Battlestations Midway. I become very intrested in CityLife after playing through Maxis's SimCity4 and decided to give it a go...and found that i really should have checked the Citylife forums before trying it...
First of all there are problems on Install, the game can't locate files on the CD and copy them over to the computer, it does'nt help that to reach that point on the install takes about 20mins (i kid you not) and then for an error to pop up really chaffs you. On the third install attempt i just kept clicking the 'ignore' error button until (strangely) the game was fully installed...then i tried to run it.
Before i explain you might think the fact that i clicked the reason it does'nt work being that i kept clicking the 'ignore' button during install the reason it did'nt work but that was the ONLY way to get the install to complete + that part of the install related to the CityLife editor which is a seperate game.
Anyway first the game took a few mins to actually load up its starting loading screen complete with a progressing bar. As the game reached 60% the game froze and crashed. It seems this was due to my graphic gard not being able to support 'Pixel shading' or something, there a many other problems i've read of on the forum site, the game clashs with Nortan anti-virus (you have to close the firewall or make the program an exception), Windows Vista (sorted by running as admin in windows 2000 compatability) and a whole range of other bugs (check the forums on the game for more)
Anyway what i'm trying to get across is that this is probably a good game, it was just released before all the bugs were ironed out, i have just ordered SimCity4 deluxe off Amazon now and i recomend anyone intrested in city building games to get that instead unless you are certain your video card (among other things) can run this 'game' i myself wish i could get a refund...
