The best way to get the most out of Stockholm
This book is much more positive about the stunning city of Stockholm than the Rough Guide. The transport maps, including bus routes and Tunnelbana (tube) make it very practical. The size is convenient, there are menu and language guide at the back and the listings are reliable. We found some excellent and very good value restaurants thanks to this book! One omission is the cheaper end of the range - despite the reputation for being pricey it is easy not too spend a great deal in Stockholm. There are some great inexpensive restaurants in Sodermalm and most of the art galleries and museums have excellent cafes. The Stockholm Information Service web-site list "cheap and chic" venues so is a good companion to this book. If you are going to Stockholm buy this book!
An excellent DK Guide for an excellent city
Stockholm is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited, with a very special light and beautiful brick colours. The DK Stockholm guide didn't disappoint me with lots of pictures, hints and schemes of streets and monuments of this splendid city and country. As the other DK guides, it tells us about history, social life and other details about Swedish way of life as well as interesting aspects of Stockholm and surroundings. However in the suggestions it makes to visit other spots of Swedish interest, it could include a visit to the painter Carl Larsson' s home in Sundborn. Besides being a picturesque way to know better one of the best-known Swedish personalities, the place offers you beautiful scenes of countryside.
A fantastic guide to a beautiful and friendly city
We've now been to Stockholm three times in the last couple of years and this book has been indispensible. Even though we now know our way around pretty well this is still the first thing we pack after the passports\money etc. It's very well laid out and contains a lot of useful information, phrases, maps etc. all packed into a convenient size.
Considering it's also been loaned out to a number of friends and family for their visits it's pretty tough as well.
