Customer Reviews
Good ideas but to reliant on key board shortcuts.
If your looking to learn Photoshop this isn't the book for you. However, if you already know a bit about Photoshop this is a great book for ideas on how to apply that knowledge.
The one criticism I have of this book is that the instructions rely too much on using keyboard shortcuts. Given that some of the techniques are things your probably not going to use everyday I'd have rather have instructions that told you what Photoshop called something and where to find it in the menus as well as provided the keyboard shortcut, as I find that much easier to remember or to work out from parts I do remember.
Personally I think this is a major shortcoming that diminishes the long term benefits of reading this book which is why I've only given it 3 stars.
'Arty' Tricks
If your into 'arty' tricks for publishing other than real photographs then this is the book for you. Not for the 'real' photographer.
Dirty?
This is a very useful book rather than essential. The English would tend to interpret 'Diry' as underhand or not by the rule book. In this book's context, dirty merely means getting involved in the 'nitty gritty'. A 'dipping' book, it does spark ideas, but nothing you might not aleady know or find elsewhere.
