Amazon.co.uk Review
Considering the TV series Police Squad managed a mere six episodes, it's no small testament to its qualities that it proved the inspiration for a trio of cinematic hits. And this bringing together of all three Naked Gun films delivers, as the original series did, a belly-load of laughs.

Each is a spoof, very much in the spirit of the original Airplane (unsurprising, as the same people are involved), with the focus this time being on Leslie Nielsen's Lt Frank Drebin, a well-meaning yet chaotic detective who, along with George Kennedy's Capt Ed Hocken, O.J.Simpson's Nordberg and Priscilla Presley's Jane finds himself with crimes to solve, and nothing but sheer ineptitude to help him.

The plot in each movie clearly takes a back seat, as each film is an exercise in throwing as many gags at the wall and hoping they stick. The hit rate in the first of the three is high enough to genuinely warrant it being a modern day comedy classic, with clever sight gags and more elaborate sequences keeping the chuckle count high and constant. Neither sequel gets close to it, but both do have their moments too. Crucially, as none of the films outstays its welcome, thanks to their relatively brief running times, each emerges as an enjoyable, joyfully silly and frequently funny comedy, set to be enjoyed time and time again.--Simon Brew

Synopsis
In THE NAKED GUN, Lt Frank Drebin, a granite-jawed, rock-brained cop, uncovers a diabolical plot to murder the Queen of England using mind control. THE NAKED GUN 2 1/2 sees disaster-prone Frank back in Washington to receive an honour for shooting his 1000th drug dealer. When a conspiracy to influence the U.S. Government's new energy policy comes to light, our intrepid hero sets out to bring the perpetrators to justice. In THE NAKED GUN 33 1/3, Frank is coaxed out of retirement to counter a terrorist threat. And in true Drebin fashion, he manages to bungle his way through the investigation, and winds up causing havoc at a glitzy Academy Awards ceremony.

Three classics for a bargain price...4
The Naked Gun films, along with Airplane!, really set the benchmark for spoof films when they were released, and now, for the second time ever, you can buy the trilogy in a set. Leslie Nielsen is great as Frank Drebin, and his dry delivery is perfect. All three films are great fun, and hilarious to watch. At roughly 80 mintues long each, they don't drag at all, and are thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end. Get some beers, pizza, and some friends and watch these for a great night in...

don't think of this as goodbye5
the naked gun trilogy takes the characters from the police squad series and puts them on the big screen - and that's all there is to it. it might be worth knowing then that police squad had a cult following, and that these movies ara more of the same
yes, that's more of the hapless frank drebin (the brilliant leslie neilsen, a man with a face made for comedy) and more of the sight and sound gags thrown at you almost as fast as you can handle. it's hit and miss of course but generally well done, and it has been noted too that these films fall short of 90 minutes so there's no chance of them outstaying theor welcome
to the films themselves plotwise we have an attempt to assasinate the queen, some interested parties trying to stop progress and the threat of a load of celebs being blown up (!??!). anyway the third film is the weakest but it does contain the ten minutes where drebin manages to cause utter chaos at an award ceremony. it runs for about ten minutes and the first time i saw it i neary threw up* i was laughing so hard
so the green message is at times very heavy handed (2nd film) but then no-one here is expecting subtlety. oh, and these are miles better than the countless imitations they have spawned

"Nice Beaver ".5
Anyone familiar with "Airplane" will know what to expect from these films . Leslie Neilsen is once again fabulous as the hapless Frank Drebin , and is assisted in his hilarious escapades by George Kennedy , Pricilla Presley and O.J Simpson . Wonderfully silly , and great fun .
