Synopsis
Food for Thought has stood in the heart of London's Convent Garden for nearly 30 years maintaining a reputation for innovative and delicious vegetarian food within a quirky and friendly, family-run atmosphere. The basic formula has not changed in those three decades, but the role of vegetarianism has. More and more people are turning to vegetarian food for health reasons. Gone are the days of traditional pulses and meat substitutes: vegetarian eating offers a deliciously healthy way to enjoy food. First published in 1994, New Food For Thought offered over 150 of the most popular recipes served in the restaurant. This edition is fully revised and updated to reflect the slight changes in the restaurant's menus. Every single chapter includes brand new dishes; the existing recipes have been simplified to require fewer ingredients and there is a whole new chapter of Food For Thought's popular Specials, offering mouthwatering recipes for occasion dining. From quick stir fries to gourmet meals, sumptuous cakes and desserts to vegan and wheat-free dishes, this book draws on vegetarian cooking from all over the globe using fresh ingredients all readily available from your local supermarket.

Good, but full of errors
I am lucky enough to work in the area and regularly have lunch at the restaurant - they serve some of the best veggie food I've had anywhere. The recipe book is good too, and I do use it an aweful lot, but sadly there are numerous errors in the quantities and instructions of many of the recipes.
More please!
I bought this book last week and have only managed to try one recipe so far which was the moussaka. It was fantastic! It turned out better than I ever imagined and looked like it came directly from the restaurant. Brilliant!
The best vegetarian cookbook I have ever used!
I cannot recommend this cookbook highly enough! It is brilliant! I use it everytime I give a dinner party! There is a section at the back called 'Specials' where the the chefs at 'Food for Though' combine a number of dishes to cook for a speacial occassion such as a dinner party. This is particularly helpful. Most recipe books have tasty dishes, but it is knowing which dishes to combine for a special dinner that is most challenging. This book makes that easy! One of the 'Specials' is: Tuscan Tart with garlic mushrooms, cannellini bean salad and spinach & feta dip. Another is Tomato, Aubergine & Chickpea pilav with courgette, feta & dill tart, and caraway seed cabbage. These recipes are just brilliant and so unusual! The use of herbs and spices makes these dishes just delicious!
With this book I have never failed to impress my non-veggie dinner guests who are really amazed and delighted that vegetarian food can taste so good!
If I had not eaten on many occassions at the 'Food for Though' restaurant in Covent Garden, I would not have bought this book because at first glance it doesnt look very interesting (there are no photos of any of the dishes which usually is a must for me). But dont let this put you off, it really is a goldmine of delicious food.
ITS A MUST FOR ANYONE WHO LOVES GOOD FOOD!
