Product Description

When Marines enter an abandoned house in Fallujah, Iraq, and hear a suspicious noise, they clench their weapons, edge around a corner, and prepare to open fire. What they find during the US-led attack on the 'most dangerous city on Earth', however, is not an insurgent bent on revenge, but a tiny puppy left behind when most of the city's population fled before the bombing. Despite military law that forbids the keeping of pets, the Marines de-flea the pup with kerosene, de-worm him with chewing tobacco, and fill him up on Meals Ready to Eat. Thus begins the dramatic rescue attempt of a dog named Lava and Lava's rescue of at least one Marine, Lieutenant Colonel Jay Kopelman, from the emotional ravages of war. From hardened Marines to wartime journalists to endangered Iraqi citizens, "From Baghdad, With Love" tells an unforgettable story of an unlikely band of heroes who learn unexpected lessons about life, death, and war from a mangy flea-ridden refugee.

Who saves who5
A wonderfull book, truly got under my skin. It tells how war is, how hardened marines are actually human and how a puppy can become such a focus to free minds from the horrors of the war that surrounds them and others. International borders and relations, US Goverment, Marine Corps, Insurgents and just bad luck all play a part in the story. But in the end all I thought was, did the Marine save the puppy, or did the puppy save the Marine. You have got to read it.

Devotion and a puppy5
A great read about the devotion of a marine in the U.S marine corps and the love and devotion to this gorgeous puppy an interesting read as well and I cannot put this book down when I am at home and reading. I am going to pass this book around the family as they will enjoy this as well about the passage of time the marine and this cute puppy goes through and the devotion of the marine to both his country and to lava.
A must read for all animal lovers everwhere!!!!

Marines/ Soldiers & Dogs- What a Great Combination!!5
A heartfelt adaptation of a puppy called Lava, doing only what puppies can do!! Fostered in a foreign country by marines who were deployed to fight for the US. A moving and informative tale of love and dedication given in a time of war.I will definitely read this book again.Highly recommended!
If you enjoy 'From Baghdad, with Love', you will equally love 'Shakespeare my Butt' by John Donoghue, also a moving and humerous tale of a former soldier and Barney the black labrador puppy. Many other anecdotes incorporated from both his personal and professional life which will leave you laughing out loud.
