Synopsis
In LOADED WEAPON 1, National Lampoon spoofs box office hits such as SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, BASIC INSTINCT, and, most obviously, the LETHAL WEAPON series. Emilio Estevez and Samuel L. Jackson head up a comic cast that also includes Jon Lovitz, William Shatner, Tim Curry, Denis Leary, and F. Murray Abraham. And watch for the Bruce Willis cameo.

Underrated Spoof Masterpiece5
Unfairly considered as pap due to its 'National Lampoon's' origins, Loaded Weapon hits the spot like no other spoof. The film impeccably manages to make a fool of the over-gloss and cheesiness of Leathal Weapon and buddy cop movies in general. Much of the success of the film is down to the straight-faced turn of Emilio Estevez, avoiding the self-consciousness which makes so many spoofs fail. Samuel L. Jackson shows of his comic talents pre-stardom as he plays his Danny Glover character to hilarious perfection. The authentic 80's soundtrack gives the required feel of the tackiness of the Lethal Weapon movies, while the cast pull off the daft jokes without any need for blatant face-pulling. In fact the cast is so well known (Estevez, Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, Tim Curry, William Shatner, Bruce Willis, Denise Richards) that even the weakest jokes pass by without so much as a groan. Loaded Weapon is a brilliantly observed spoof first, and an exceptional jokes vehicle second, where the daft jokes hit the mark rather than seem like a cheap attempt to amuse the viewer. There are so many priceless moments packed into the tight running time and such flawless spoof performances that it is a shame that this film has been dusted under the carpet along with so many poor 'National Lampoon's' movies. Loaded Weapon is an unexpected spoof treasure.

Hilarious4
National Lampoon films do seem to have been slipping here and there, and with comedy classics like National Lampoons European Vacation on there past prodjects it seemed they might well drift into obscurity. This film firmly establishes the talent of writers making hilarious fun of Lethal Weapon and silence of the Lambs. Lines such as "Quid Pro quo", "What does that mean?", "I'm pretentious" I found hilarious. Anyone whose had to endure the tedium of watching Cop films in which the seemingly never wrong formula of black cop meets white cop will find themselves laughing till there sides burst. A couple of redundant jokes litter this otherwhise hilarious film however in genral its one of the most amusing parody's I've ever seen, more like this please!

Lampoon review3
It starts off great and the first time you see it, it will make you roll on the floor laughing, but it isn't consistent and it does drag on alot and the gags don't get any more sophisticated than slapstick, which is a shame, they could have done alittle more later on, but worth a place in a comedy collection.
