Manufacturer's Description
The BL440 from Kenwood has a 500w motor with 2 speeds plus pulse for flexible user control. For added convenience, the 1.5 Litre acrylic goblet has graduated markings for left or right handed use and a pouring spout for easy handling.
The stainless steel blades provide effortless and consistent results, and the base dismantles for easy cleaning. To ensure maximum safety, Kenwood’s range of blenders come with an interlocking system. Blades will only rotate when the goblet and blades are correctly positioned. The removable filler cap with oil drip feed is ideal for creating mayonnaise and dips, allowing the addition of ingredients mid-blend.
An acrylic mill attachment is also included with a storage lid and sprinkler cap. The mill attachment is perfect for small quantities, making time consuming processes much easier, such as blending baby food or dips. The sharp blades of mill attachment make it the perfect mini chopping tool. Additional features include cord storage and rubber feet for stability.

Superb
I didn't want to spend a huge amount of money on a blender because I wasn't sure if I was just going through another fad. I once had a juicer and it was awful - never got a drop of juice out of it; it was impossible to clean and you needed a vast amount of friut for it to work. Instead of spending a lot of money on one of the more exensive blenders I bought this one. I couldn't be more pleased. It's beautifully made and easy to clean. I make the children smoothies for breakfast with natural yoghurt and fruit and they are delicious. You can put friut in with very little chopping, which is essential to me as I don't want to spend hours in the morning preparing fruit. I drop whole bananas in, yoghurt, fruit juice of some sort for liquid, whole kiwi fruit or huge chunks of melon - even an apple quartered. In about 5 seconds you have soft, frothy smoothies. It's absolutely brilliant. The kids enjoy making them with me and experimenting with different flavours.
I substitute a smoothie instead of cake or toast for tea. We're all loosing weight and feeling much more healthy. It's the first time we, as a family of four, have been able to eat the recommended amount of fruit.
The small attachment is great for chopping onions or nuts, although I haven't used it all the often.
I wouldn't risk this Kenwood in the dishwasher, as I don't think the plastic would stand it. It is very easy to clean though by hand.
I thoroughly recommend this blender and wouldn't be without mine now.
Cheap and cheerful but not very good
This blender may be ok if you only want to use it for smoothies but if you want to do range of things with it then I would choose something else.
The blender works ok-ish, but frequently there will be one last lump which has not been liquidised.
The spice grinder is not very effective, particularly on harder spices. Also the clear plastic jar became misted over within a couple of uses. This means that you cannot see how ground your spices are without taking it off and looking inside.
Finally, the plastic seals on both the spice grinder and the blender have deteriorated rapidly (within a few months).
You definitely get what you pay for with this blender. I wish I had spent a bit more money and got a more durable effective product.
Powerful and well designed
Lovely design, very robust, basic blender and good value for money. Easy to clean and not too many of those irritating small plastic pieces that are designed to chip or break rendering the machine useless.
This blender has a 500W rating.
