Philip’s Quadpacer® 30-second interval timer encourages even brushing

Philip’s HX6932/10 Quadpacer feature beeps at 30-second intervals during the 2-minute brushing period, telling you when to move the toothbrush to the next section, thus making sure that you brush all sections of your mouth evenly and thoroughly. The Quadpacer takes the guesswork out of when to move the brush from the outside of the teeth to the inside, and from the upper teeth to the lower teeth.

ProResults brush head - Design for better fit

The Philips HX6932/10 Sonic toothbrush is clinically proven to remove significantly more plaque than Sonicare Elite and Oral B Triumph. It is especially designed for a better fit with your mouth. HX 6932/10 brush head's contour fit, wider bristle range, and broader sweeping motion provides better tooth coverage. It ensures to reach those contours of your mouth and clean the areas, which other’s cant. Provides better plaque removal and a comfort-enhanced brushing experience.

Philip’s Smartimer® Technology encourages Doctor recommended 2-minute brushing time

Your Philips HX6932/10 Soincare toothbrush comes with smartimer, which encourages 2-minute brushing as recommended by dental professionals. The Smartimer automatically stops your Sonicare toothbrush after the dentist-recommended brushing time of 2 minutes has elapsed. If you switch the toothbrush off at any time during the brushing cycle, for instance to rinse or apply more toothpaste, the Smartimer interrupts its timing and resumes where it left off when you switch the appliance back on again.

Although a 2-minute brushing session is recommended for optimal results, you can always stop or restart the toothbrush at any time by pressing the power button. When the handle is placed in the charger, the Smartimer automatically resets to ensure a complete 2-minute brushing cycle the next time you use it. The Smartimer also resets itself if you stop your Sonicare toothbrush for more than 45 seconds.

Philips Whiter than White!5
Fairly new to using an electric toothbrush really, well part from the Oral B one which is still going strong I hasten to add.

I was a little dubious about using this if I am honest (sonicare sounds more like one of those sonic bathroom/kitchen cleaning brushes, that are supposed to be quite lethal). But I was brave and can honestly say there was no blood! Just whiter looking teeth and it certainly does boost your confidence knowing that your teeth are clean and white, even if you are a red wine drinker like myself.

The one gripe I have with this toothbrush is the fact that it doesn't come with a adapter (two pin plug) and you must remember that not every bathroom has one of these. I found one from one of my other appliances, but for the cost of this I would have thought that one would come as standard! Come on Philip's you are letting your standards down on this one. You gain points in my estimation though as you give it a 2 year warranty! Plus a guarantee of noticeable results etc or a full refund, what more can you ask for!

The brush has three modes, clean, sensitive, clean and white and reslly is the most easiest thing to use. I have been using mine all week now and it still has power, eventually got used to the shape of it, as I have small hands and this is slightly bigger than the Oral B I am familar with. Also the brush head is more like the shape of a conventional toothbrush, not small and rounded like the previous one I have used. Yet I have to confess I am a fan, the feeling it leaves me with is that of having been to the dentist for a scale and polish, really clean, smoother feeling teeth (but with no dental fees!)

The instructions are clear and easy to follow, you must read these first as there is a method of using it at the begining which you really should follow!

I have noticed an improvement on an old crown where it was removed then filled, the tooth is brighter, and feels smooth when my tongue touches it.

It is also safe to use on teeth that are veneered, sensitive, implant material or even with braces, what cann't this be used on ? (false ones I think).
What I also like about it is the fact that it comes with different coloured rings so up to three people can use it (each with a different head of course) just buy the extra heads then you are away, and talking of that it does come with a travel case, so no more grubby brush on your trips.

The charger is not too big or bulky another plus if needing it to travel with or even if you are short of bathroom surface space. Plus it is easy to wrap the cord around, no tangles.

I have actually seen this item advertised in Company magazine as being the best if combined along dental floss and a good quality toothpaste, so rather than get a bleach/whitening kit pricey done at home or the dentist use this instead (a lot cheaper too).

This does what it says it should! An easy to use quality made product which actually delivers excellent results.

I have to keep smiling now just to show off my brighter looking teeth, they really do look like I have spent a fortune at the dentist, but no I have spent less than the cost of one dental checkup.

Will I go back to using my old brush, lets just say I have cleaned it up and put it away in the airing cupboard, as this Sonicare has convinced me this is the one!

It is the middle of January 2009 now and it is still going strong, have been using it now for the last 4 months and I can say that there is a big difference in the colour of my teeth (whiter).

Have just changed the head on the brush, an easy job to do. It does say to change the head every three months like you would a normal manual toothbrush, but I had flu so wanted that to clear up then start afresh with a new toothbrush head.

It still keeps its charge like at the start, charge it up and it lasts a full week.

So have been using this for a quarter of the year and wouldn't change anything about it.

As of May 2009 mine is still working, (fully functional) have read that a couple of others have had a problem after about 7 months. I suppose it is a bit like anything there is always going to be an odd one or two with a problem, whether this is down to the design or users not sure.

The big thing about this toothbrush is that it does come with a guarantee (2 years) so if you do get an issue with it, you can always get some help with it.

As I have raved about this toothbrush so much at home, my husband now wants to try one out ..... so either he thinks it does a pretty dammed good job, or he is just feed up of me going on about it!

Brilliant - Just Remember to Send off the Guarantee!4
This is the second Philips Electric Toothbrush I have owned from the Sonicare range and there is a reason that I have gone back to them. The Sonicare is a very powerful toothbrush that seems to brush my teeth better than other competitors I have tried. The difference between this HealthyWhite Deluxe model and my previous model is that this is about £100 cheaper! The amazing thing is you lose hardly anything by buying the cheaper model. There are three options on the HealthyWhite, this is all you need. The Clean and White option in particular works brilliantly to clean your teeth. This model does not come with a UV cleaner! Great! I did not need one and found it excessive in the first place.

The only misgiving I have with the HealthyWhite is the build quality. My previous brush broke within the year and needed replacing. However, don't worry as this comes with a FREE 2 year guarantee just remember to send it off (unlike I did : ( ). People with sensitive teeth and gums should also be careful as it is very powerful and can cause bleeding gums if used incorrectly. To help you in this the device starts off with 14 weaker cleans slowly building up in power as you become more confident. This is a great idea and really helps you get to grips with the techniques needed for optimum use.

Despite these small misgivings I am very impressed with the HealthyWhite. Your teeth feel very smooth after cleaning and I do notice some whitening effect. Just make sure you look after it and you should be in for a few years good cleaning.

For the price (ouch) a good piece of kit- get the mosquito buzz!5
After years of using standard electric toothbrushes (Braun/Oral-B), my conversion to sonic took just a week. The action of the miniscule oscillating sound (rather like a mosquito) sloshes the toothpaste slurry in between your teeth. Food trapped between the tiny gaps between your teeth are flushed out and the whole surface of the enamel feels cleaner. I've been using the more pricey review version Philips Sonicare HX6932/10 Flexcare Sonic Toothbrush with UV Sanitizing Station for 11 months with no problems (although I do tend to fully discharge the battery before each charge cycle which always aids product life). Initially the vibration is strange, with a slightly unnerving after tingling- you get used to it. It's important just to use a small amount of toothpaste as your mouth does slosh full of saliva! It is possible, gentle reader, to get into the habit of safely spitting out the excess in mid buzz (you can't turn the thing off or you'll mess up the timing).

So how does it measure up to it's more painfully priced older sibling?
The body is just a cylinder. The HX6932 has been designed to be slightly thinner in the middle- it's nicer to hold, but not significantly so. The brushes are interchangeable and this version comes with just the one standard brush (Philips Sonicare HX6013/03 ProResults Toothbrush Head - Standard - Triple Pack). You'll need to change the brush evey 3 months according to the leaflet - making running costs just over £20.00 a year. There's also an alternative style- a mini head (Philips Sonicare HX6023 ProResults Toothbrush Head - Mini - Triple Pack). Although I was used to a smaller head before with the Braun, I found I preferred the larger size. When you're buying make sure you avoid the old Philips version with the large bulb at the bottom.

As standard with toothbrushes, you'll need a two pin to three pin plug adaptor (429.824 SHAVER ADAPTOR) if you haven't got a specialised socket in your bathroom. Given the price of this thing I also let it charge overnight to condition the battery before giving the new toy a whirl. It does come with a nice white solid plastic case for travelling, with a space for two brush heads- an improvement over the cloth case that came with the more expensive model! The charger also has two little nubs for storing alternative brush heads- making it a bit easier to be a one sonic family if you leave it trickle charging in the bathroom.

Unlike the pricey version, it has just one power button to control on/off and to select the programme. All the programmes follow the practice of dividing your mouth into 4 sections (front upper, back upper, front lower, back lower) so you divide equal attention to all of the surfaces of your teeth. There's a slight dip in the sound to signal the switch over.

Clean = 30 seconds of each quadrant
Sensitive the same- but at a lower sound frequency
"Clean and White" gives you 4 * 30 seconds followed by two 15 second bursts to go over the upper and lower front of your teeth in turn.

The one button does mean that you have to pulse your way through to the last programme while the brush head is in your mouth loaded with toothpaste. There is a distictive sound change on the last programme (rather like a polite cow clearing its throat!). If you suddenly need to turn off the brush and you're on the first selection, you have to press the power button three times to turn it off!. On the more expensive version, there's a separate button to preselect the programme BEFORE you start. For the price difference, I would be inclined to get used to the inconvenience.

So vexed question, does the whitening function actually work? The truthful answer is I don't yet know, but I have my doubts that you'll look like the sassy model on the box after using this. As I did have my teeth professionally "whitened" under the direction of a dentist two years ago (personalised gum shield and a bleach applied twice a day for a month) I have to say I am dubious. I didn't end up with Daz whiteness- just a more even slight staining rather than uneven chunks of tartar. And a daily espresso and the odd bottle of red wine puts paid to shiny whiteness. If you want to convince yourself that you've found the much cheaper solution with this device, make sure you compare results in natural light (artificial light does deceive).

I would also caution you that as I stopped getting the pain of trapped food between my teeth after using the previous version, I was fooled into thinking that my teeth were miraculously cleaner and I stopped regular flossing -big mistake- my middle aged gums did go downhill a little. If you are new to sonic toothbrushes I'll also caution you that when I originally started using it, I suddenly got AWFUL bad breath. I'm guessing that all the sneaky stinky bacteria hiding out between my teeth suddenly got flushed into the main mouth. A slosh of mouthwash for a fortnight restored the balance.

So conclusions- I'd rather pay 50 quid for a sonic toothbrush than 100 (or much more in the mainstream shops- cripes). This version does have some design simplifications, which if I didn't have a review copy would cause me to hesitate and probably save money (it is just a toothbrush!). I will never willingly go back to a non sonic toothbrush. I have my doubts on the miraculous tooth whitening setting- I'll be persuaded when we get some reviews on long term tests.

Smile, and don't bite too hard on olive stones (my last toothy crunch)!
