Read the instructions
My 6 year old daughter decided she wanted to buy a hop-it with her Christmas money and amazon was far cheaper than any other toy shops. It arrived within a couple of days in an enormous amazon box - seriously you could fit 2 children in it!
My daughter got the hang of it pretty quickly and the lights look really good when it's getting dark.
A few of words of warning...
1. The lights are switched on/off by holding down a button - they are not motion activated as you might assume.
2. The batteries are "only for demonstration purposes" and need replacing very quickly so make sure you have a couple of AA batteries ready and a screwdriver.
3. Stand well back when you child is using this because it REALLY hurts if it hits you! :-)

I've given the toy 4 stars because it does what it's supposed to and was good value. It would have got five stars if it handn't taken me so long to work out that the batteries needed replacing and how to switch it on/off - to be fair the instructions mention both of these things in small print on the bottom of the packaging.

Skip this for something else
What a shame! This has to be the shortest lasting overpriced Xmas present ever! It lasted all of 15 minutes before jamming on a red light and despite taking out the batteries and replacing them as instructed (impossibly tiny screw), it stayed jammed. In fact it was impossible to switch off. Thanks to the inventiveness of children, it became a laser gun metal detector in search of 'Metal Girl'... until the batteries finally run out that is! Conclusion - skip this and get something else, unless you like big boxes (thanks Amazon).

A nice toy that is fun for the bairns and isn't too expensive.

Positive
The lights do look good when it is dark
It is fun for the kids and is relatively quiet (Apart from when it hits something)

Negative
The batteries are rubbish so be prepared to replace them very soon after you get them
Try to avoid getting hit by it as it really, really hurts!
