This is not the clearest mapping of Ireland2
If there were no other road atlases of Ireland I could tell you that the maps in this atlas are up to date and accurate and be done with it. However as there are others to compare it with we can afford to expect a bit more than that. The problem is, put simply, this is not Ireland's clearest mapping. The web of white minor roads on a white background is wearing on the eyes. The picking out the network of secondary `R' roads in fluorescent yellow makes the maps look garish. There is no indication of terrain except little triangles indicating the position of hill summits.

There are a good selection of town plans, but they are tiny things with the details shown too small making them hard to read. My test is this, if I was a tired tourist who had just driven 90 miles from the ferry of an evening, could I navigate round town using these maps lit by the light in my car? The answer: No.

If I was on the ferry and this was the only atlas I could find on the rack I would buy it, but not when I have a choice as on this site.

Easy to read and right amount of detail4
We used this map on our week long driving tour around Northern and Western Ireland and found the maps easy to read, relatively accurate (one new highway was missing) and especially the city maps in the back were useful.

Road atlas - Ireland4
Clear mapping, easy to map read from as its larger scale. very easy for driveng on smaller roads. You would probably need OS for any serious walking. The only slight drawback is reading from page to page, but this might get easier with more use. If this was available spiral bound, it would be perfect.
