A born Bunthorne
Bunthorne is the part John Reed was born to play, and he makes the most of his part, particularly in his complicated patter songs. The supporting cast sing excellently. The dialogue is completer, but not everyone will enjoy it, as the D'Oyly Carte performers, with the exception of Reed and a few others, are very stilted. However, I highly recommend this record.

BUT BEWARE...
...Unfortunately, this set is put virtually out of court by the completely inadequate piping of Mary Sansom as Patience (and she nearly ruins Iolanthe and Gondoliers too). How she was cast in the regular company amongst such stalwart D'Oyly stars as Reed, Adams, Knight and Sandford is beyond belief! So go for the Sargent set instead.
