    poor1
No temperature control and too cool
    method of securing plates pathetic
    No timer

Nice - but does not have timer or variable temperature3
The Foreman shown is certainly the 12617 - but it does NOT have a timer or variable temperature settings as stated in the product description (as of 17/09/08 in case they edit it).

So if you are looking for a larg(ish) Formean with removeable grill plates - this is the one. But if you want a timer - move along. Nothing for you here.

Not good for steaks and chops2
Like Mr Taylor, I have found that this grill cooks by steam rather than the heat of the grids. Not good enough for good quality meat, as the 'steaming' doesn't give you that nice, browned finish, apart from the grid pattern. On a more positive note: it does make EXCELLENT paninis and cooks sausages reasonably well. Personally, I think this is still too much to pay for a 'sausage cooker' unless you live in a small apartment, caravan or bedsit.

It is very easy to clean, but does get extremely hot to handle, so if you buy one, have the silicone gloves ready!
