Manufacturer's Description
The iPod has reached a new level with this exciting audiophile quality speaker system from Klipsch. In tune with today's popular music-listening trends, Klipsch offers a high-performance speaker system designed exclusively for iPod owners and fans. A 2.1 channel stereo configuration comes equipped with two unobtrusive Klipsch Reference Series RSX-3 satellites, a dedicated subwoofer, docking station and RF remote control. The subwoofer, designed specifically for this system, has a built-in Class D amplifier that distributes 200 watts of peak system power to successfully drive all the channels. It also features a slot port and line level input. A unique tuning approach is used to achieve a sound character typically found in much larger subwoofers. In a sense, docking your classic iPod into this speaker system delivers high-class audio performance that accurately (and pleasantly) reproduces all frequencies for optimal enjoyment. No more compromises here. Your iPod can deliver big, room-filling sound with the Klipsch IFI.

Got an iPod? Never mind Bose...5
Earlier this year I needed a new stereo system for my lounge. I realised that I already had a bulging iPod sitting there, full of weeks of music that it would be handy to have upon demand - but I needed a decent docking solution.

First - as I'm sure a lot of you have - I checked out the Bose solutions. Quality, style, excellent sound; tough to go wrong with these, right? I thought so too, until I heard the iFi.

Because of the design (the sound potential isn't sacrificed for the sake of aesthetics) the iFi delivers a truly house-filling sound with it's clear and crisp satellite speakers and excellent, punchy subwoofer. The bass in particular does a good job of seeming sourceless rather than booming out from the box - and since the bass level is independently adjustable if you fancy shaking pictures off of the walls rather than appreciating the rest of the music you can do that too.

The looks are very much an aquired taste it seems, although my iFi looks right at home in my media stand with the speaker grilles off (I didn't much like the look of them, and I preferred them naked as they matched the stand and equipment). Even so, don't be put off - the sound quality is absolutely superb.

One of the many strengths of this unit is that there is a seperate line in input that is always on - meaning there is no need to switch sources. The upshot of this is you can simpy stop the iPod playback and run what you please through these marvellous speakers - your PC, your TV, whatever you fancy. I was about to get a new set of home entertainment speakers to compensate for the rather weak speakers in the Sony Bravia, but I simply popped the iFi into the audio output and now there's really no need to for now - admittedly not a 5.1 experience, but an excellent full range sound to tide me over until I find the perfect set up (at which point I shall use these nifty units as PC speakers instead)

The remote is also worthy of mention. As a minor gripe it is small and very easy to lose track of if, like me, you're in the habit of putting them down and forgetting where you left them. On the plus side, however, the remote is RF rather than infrared, the upshot of this being I can sit in my garden and control my stereo through a couple of walls - great for summer barbeques and irritating the neighbours. If you're somewhat more socially responsible than I am, you can use it to control your music library from any room in the house. The other issues though are the controls on the remote are limited to play, pause, forward, backwards and volume. Handy if you already have your playlist sorted out, but annoying if you want to swap albums and such. As a recommendation, you should spend some time sorting out playlists before you get stuck in with the roaming control. A last - and far more minor - quibble is because of the control method of the remote, universal remotes do not work with the product (at least those I looked into). You might want to make enquiries beforehand if you believe in the one house one remote philosophy.

    So, in summary :

    Pros

    - Excellent sound quality, truly house-filling. Beats out Bose. Not just noise either - crisp and clear treble and mid range, and suffusive bass.
    - Easy to use; drop in the iPod and go. Also comes with adaptors for all docking-capable iPods.
    - RF remote; use it through walls if you like that kind of schtick.
    - Simultaneous line in. Beef up your telly or have fantastic quality PC speakers.
    - Charges iPod.
    - Seperate bass and volume controls, although not on remote.

    Cons

    - Better sound comes at a price; three seperate units rather than one elegant stand. Question of taste.
    - Remote limited to basic functions, and very icckle. Slips down sides of sofa if not careful. Also not compatible with most universal remotes (unconfirmed)
    - If you have poor quality tracks on your iPod, this will really show them up. Perhaps this is a 'Pro' though. You'll hear things you didn't previously.

    WOW!5
just got this today from Amazon after reading the only review on here and doing a fair bit of research on the internet.
everything I have read is true this has got to be one of the best players for the ipod. the sound from the two small(although heavy) satellite speakers and the subwoofer is fantastic. the quality of the sound has to be heard to be believed.
if you are looking for a true top notch high end system do not ignore this piece of kit.

    Clarity, pure and simple..................5
As like all Klipsch products the iFi is a joy to unpack from its lavish box. The quality is evident as soon as you take delivery - the weight of the box is an indicator of this. The sub-woofer's size is given as 8" on Amazon - this is only the height and width; the actual depth is 14" - so ensure you have space to house it.The satellite speakers are fitted with solid ball-joint brackets which in turn are affixed to the base plate which can be shelf or(easily) wall mounted and come with a pair of 5 metre speaker cables. The whole thing is easily set up and the RF pebble shaped handset operates play/pause, track forward and backwards and volume. The sound is astoundingly clear. I heard things on some tracks I didn't even know were there until played through the iFi. The sub has a line-in to allow playback from other equipment. The iPod dock has a built in volume control should the supplied pebble shaped one gets mislaid.
To conclude; this is a quality, quality sound system. To catagorise it as an iPod dock would be like classing a Ferrari simply as a car..... The build quality is visbly superior. More importantly the delivery of sound is stunning, just ensure the compressed mp3 track being played is of the highest quality because if it's not these speakers will bring out every flaw in there........... Highly recommended.

    (Tested using an iPod Touch).

    Pros:-
    Top end sound reproduction.
    Build quality.

    Cons:-
Being unable to vary the bass or treble - you get what your given (which Klipsch have got right on this occasion).
The small remote handset - It could be very easily lost.
Having to remove the iPod from the dock to change the album.
