Some things in our lives are decided on the whim of a moment.
One such moment on Saturday July 30th July 1966 saw a Russian linesman make
a decision that would change the shape of English football forever. Geoff
Hurst's powerful effort had bounced off the underside of the bar, but
despite evidence that is still in doubt to this day, it was adjudged a
goal. HAMMERS THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS is the story of what might have
happened had that decision gone the other way. Would England still have
won? Could the Germans have recovered to win? This book offers a dramatic
account of how lives and football in England might have changed from that
moment on.

Customer Reviews
switch off your mind, relax, and float downstream
when you are staring at relegation, i.e. right now, this book could be the perfect antidote to days of misery and early cup exits.
the author presents some parallel universe where west ham occasionally might win something, where lennon seems to become an OAP and where gorgeous girls encourage gauche boys to lose their virginity: billy bonds, beatles and bonking - if only life were really like that, as woody allen probably said.
